Ledge Help

Hi, noob Falco here.

Say you've just managed to recover onto the ledge, and your opponent (Marth/someone with good range) is out of ledge hop nair/dair range but too close for ledge hop laser range. What to do? T_T Rolling gets me *****, and I've tried to do some ledge hop waveland stuff but it really isn't working out for me. Haven't really tried jumping from the edge though...

Secondly, how do you do an instant walljump with Falco? Searching the forums has told me to "hug the wall and sweetspot with a second jump" and then flick away to instantly walljump. But I swear there's a way to do it just from a wavedash -> edgehog...

Thanks in advance!:chuckle:

Falco can't Doraki.

Ledgedash would be a very viable option, he has pretty good invincibility frames to cover his arse, so why wouldn't you learn it?

Is there anyway to instant walljump with Falco? I think I just did it once (and didn't test out if I had a second jump because I was too shocked), and have been struggling to recreate it.

Ledgedashing would just be ledgehopping into a waveland right? Yeah, I should definitely get to perfecting this. Most of the time I do it too late and have a little airdodge animation before the waveland. Any other options for that scenario?

AFAIK there's no way to Doraki jump with Falco in any legal stage.

Ledge hop > perfect waveland with invincibility frames is a safe option.

I guess you could also use firebird/illusion stall to gain invincibility frames and bait a reaction, then punish.
If your opponent is at mid/high % and he doesn't expect it you can try a shine-turn around-Bair coming back on the stage, but that's risky.
I've seen lots of good players coming back with a fB. If you catch your opponent off guard and you're quick enough that's a good option as well.

Just wondering... what do you mean with "too close for ledge hop laser range"? LHDLing is a good option even when your opponent is close, if you don't get too predictable with it. You can connect shines/grabs/tilts to lasers, just be careful not to be shield grabbed in between them or punished for mindlessly shooting while trying to get back on the stage :O

I'm pretty sure i read somewhere that everyone gets mistaken about the Doraki...

I read that instant wall jumping (nothing to do with doraki) is just sweetspotting the ledge then hitting away, and can be done with any character that can walljump but only on certain stages

Doraki walljump is a special technique of doing the instant walljump on FD, with its diagonal sides, and supposedly you have to drop down, double jump onto the ledge and as you do (i think its frame specific) hit away from the ledge. then you are like 'prepped' and can then hit away from the stage and will instant walljump

I also read the above doraki method doesn't work with falco, and i've tried to do it but its not worked for me

(if doraki reads this, and its all wrong, I'm sorry)

I have seen this instant walljump with falco/fox.

Basically, you time your double-jump as low as possible so that you barely grab the edge. When you do, next time you let go with down or away, Falco does a walljump instead. Don't think it's that practical against trying to go from ledge to stage. May work at first cause of sheer surprise.
