I've noticed that when i die, it's usually because of me coming up from the ledge... Which makes me ask, what are the best options for a single ice climber hanging on the ledge...

Its true IC's have a really hard time getting back up off the ledge. A couple options i like (besides trying to trick my oponent by standing, rolling, or jumping) are Ledge Wave to sheild/down smash/grab or you could potentially ledge hop a bair or nair.

ledge hopping into any aerial is usually a bad idea. Pretty much any smash from all the characters will eat through your n-air, and b-air hits behind you soo that's not too useful. The only time I find myself using any aerials off the ledge is when I'm edge guarding someone else coming back (b-air, u-air, d-air).

As for how to effectively get back on, wave dashing back onto the ledge is almost always your safest bet. This works exeptionally well against Marth, WD on -> side step or shield his f-smash (what most marths will do) -> grab. If you feel you need more space just WD back on with your shield up and roll away from your opponent to distance yourself from the ledge.

This isn't to say you should ONLY use this, be sure to mix it up with rolling or simply climbing back on. Putting yourself in the air while your opponent is on the ground is almost never a good situation for IC, so I personally avoid jumping from the ledge most of the time.

I completly agree about using aerials, however bair's hitbox will actually connect slightly in front of you, its kinda weird to see. I think ive only connected with it as a ledge hop a few times...not useful...but unexpected ^.^

I usually WD to shield against Marth, but it seems any good players can time the F-Smash so it hits before my shield get ups. If this happens to you then it's obvious that your opponent has caught on an you need to do something different. If this happens to you you have the possibility of simply airdodging, then fast falling. Note that this is only advisabel if your opponent has you predicted.

i always use ledge WD. if you do it fast enough your invincibility frames should last long enough for you to either shield, dodge, or roll. this allows to do various attacks after the WD like utilt, dsmash, grab, jab, etc. b/c youre protected during the WD (chu does this a lot). but if youre not fast enough and/or the opponent is expecting you (they might WD back --> smash you) then you will have to mix it up. i still do the WD though but i would just roll or dodge or something. the only time ive actually gotten hit while WD back onto the stage is when i tried to attack them.. since their attack hit me first

That's true, but it's ridiculously hard to time and space against any halfway decent player.
