So I'm kind of a sucker for Godzilla monster fighting games.

The guys who developed the last three want to make a new game. I think most important to note is that Atari won't be involved in the development of this one, since they often forced the actual developers to rush their games or tack on certain features. Perhaps even more important to note is that the developers want YOU to be part of the team and play early builds of the game to give feedback on how to make it better.

Of course, for them to make they game they're also relying on your help to fund the project! Visit their Kickstarter page if you're interested:

I'm excited for this too. It has great potential. 1-4 players online too!

Pardon the *really* old bump, but I'm crawling out from under my rock to give some news regarding this project: it is restarting! Here's a link to the new Kickstarter:

I know I'm definitely a sucker for giant monsters, Japanese or not, so seeing how they want to add Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman, even the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Cthulhu is exciting... and very promising!
Plus, donating $500 allows you to collaborate with the team and get your own original monster in. That's dedication.

They're constantly taking up suggestions on what to do with the gameplay in the forums, so we need some competitive expertise in there if we want to see this game hit tournaments and stay active.
Forums are here: http://www.kaijucombat.com/community/index.php

They've raised nearly $20k in only 16 hours of being live... so give it a shot! You just might enjoy it. (=

If I donated $500 and got my monster in the game, would I still own the IP for my monster or would they?

There's an answer lingering on the forums... The monster is yours, but it cannot be used in any other monster fighting game material.

You can view a few more things about monster-submitting here, and you could probably ask your question here as well: https://kaijucombat.wiki.zoho.com/Monster-Proposal.html

Also, here's a teaser animation showing off one backer's monster come to life:

So we're *finally* seeing some more artwork for submitted monsters... Here you go:

Macrosaurus

Tornaq

Moratitan

Duncan

Also... the first official boss of the game: Nemesis, submitted by author Jeremy Robinson.

There are still 5 more originals that need concept art... so about halfway there for now.
