What's the point of it, really? What is it supposed to do that a normal U-Smash doesn't?

it's an oos option. it's faster than dropping the shield and u smashing since you can jump directly out of shield and not waste frames.

Ah...I think I'll find use of it as the Reverse JCUP, but I could simply Up-Smash OoS with Tap Jump on. But now that I de-activated it...yeah.
Thanks Fred Fuchs.

For some characters, a running Up-smash causes them to slide a bit, whereas a JC Up-smash (out of a dash/run) basically lock them in place while they do the move so there's a subtle difference. And yeah, you would JC-Up-smash out of shield if you wanted to do that.

Why woud one want to lock their movement? It's much better to have a moving U-Smash than one that doesn't. Personally one of my better KO moves with Ike was dash reversal U-Smash.

JC Usmash ignores shieldrop, making usmash a quick option OoS. Look at characters like Fox and think why being able to Usmash OoS 6 frames faster is an advantage.

In the rain.
The same way you do it as every other char.

When you're on the ground, input a jump, and then input an usmash right after the jump.

If I have tapjump on do I have to input a jump and then usmash right after or will simply pressing up on the c-stick when in shield work?

It's required for some buffering options. I know ddd has a guaranteed jump canceled up smash out of down throw on some characters. has to be done as a buffered jump canceled up smash to work.

Cstick is unaffected by tapjump. You can do it by smashing up+a for a jump+usmash or you can press a jump button + cstick up. I prefer doing it with the tapjump, it also kinda makes your DI decent if something goes wrong.
