Thanks but this has been known since the game came out. It's a pretty standard part of the physics. Please use the search function next time, although I suppose most of the results that would concern this would be from Feb. and March last last year so I guess it probably wouldn't have helped much. Either way, I suggest you read the stickies as you'll find loads of useful information in them.

Thanks anyways. Just brush up on your knowledge a little. =]

ahh cool..i barely see it used...is it because its useless?
I've been inactively lately so I just remembered this is where you wanted to post the question in this thread. Please do so in the future. =]

Anyways, it is sort of useless just because there's no real point. Counter really isn't a move that you can abuse against a good player in general because all they have to do is bait it and then they get a free hit. Quite possibly a killing blow depending on the percent. It's a good move to use once, maybe twice in a match. Unless you really know what you're doing, I recommend you don't use it more than that.

As for the actual use of this, I don't think canceling the jump is that useful because you're stuck in counter. I already said what was wrong with that. But also, you're not really accomplishing much in terms of "mind games." Think about it. When someone sees a Marth jump, they're expecting a fair. Most characters will just shield and if you counter, you're just a sitting duck. Not only that but assuming they had match up experience, they would most likely assume it was going to be a retreating fair and wouldn't attack anyways. Not to mention the amount of time you're actually jumping is so short that your opponent would have to have pretty amazing reflexes and would have to commit to things really easily for them to just try and attack you.

Anyways, read up a little as I'm sure there's a lot you can learn from just the stickies. And welcome to the Marth boards.
