Surprised no one mentioned this, but the English screenshot also shows 5 characters being used - namely, the 2 ones that use punctuation marks/symbols.

Please, someone correct me if I'm being an idiot...

This screenshot looks like it came from here. Compare it with the analogous US page here.

Look at the two screenshots side by side:

The US version isn't a screen name, It's just a generic "new entry." I would bet, although I do not read Japanese, that their picture says something similar. Hopefully someone (like a Katana-wielding Panda) will come along and tell us.

I am the only that though it was like a character revelation by the title?

Nice to know about the 5 letters thing, though...

Good find. We know that there will be a least 3 letters in the English Version now. Hopefull there's space for 5.

Actually, the topic starter pointed out that there could have been a distinction between Wi-Fi names, and control names. That update showed we could have 5-letter Wi-Fi IDs, but this update shows that those are likely one and the same as our control names.
Yeah, I thought the phrase "outside of Wi-Fi" made it clear, but apparantly I was mistaken.

Hmm... you know what? I never really got into using the name function with Melee... in fact, I feel akward with the tag over my person during a match. But ohwell. I'll probably start using name tags this time around. =]

Hmm... Should it be Bluba or BlubP?

I will still probably be using SMX7 as my tag, so it doesn't really affect me, but I might use SMX07 just so it will be the max. Or I could use both for different control schemes.
