While our individual episodes are usually featured as news stories (thanks for that Warchamp7), I wanted to put this thread together as a hub for those of you who are new listeners looking to get into the podcast or current members of the Japan Time family who want to interact with the hosts and your fellow nakama (gross, can't believe I used that word).​

Hey #Japantime , Just wanted to get your feedback on something that has been rather concerning for people today. A number of people are saying that Lucina is an alt. due to the fact that her icon on the website isnt big enough. However i think that is not the case because on the mobile site, her icon is equally as large as the other newcomers, i think instead its just that she shares a poster with robin and therefore they didnt want to waste space on the site making two giant blocks for the same poster. So i think she is a character all her own! Love to hear your opinion

I also noticed that when I went on the website using my phone. I personally think that she's just going to be like Roy in that she has the same moveset but different power and speed. From the trailer she looks like she's a faster, but weaker Marth

It's possible. In the Fire Emblem series, the Nosferatu tomes are dark tomes that restores the user's HP by half of the damage done to the enemy.
I wonder how they'd decide to handle that if it does keep the affect, since it could easily be broken, depending on how much is restored.

We're going to talk about this on tonight's episode but just from talking to everyone today, we're all pretty much in agreement that while she's a clone, she's a separate character. Except for Warchamp7... LOL

He thinks she's an alt.

I'm actually siding with Warchamp in thinking she's an alt. Clones don't have the same idle animations as their originals (not even the Melee clones did):

Frame perfect. Notice how the hand slightly hovers in front of her chest where it should be on it because it uses the same rotations as Marth's animation but on a slimmer model.

Even if she is an alt I can't imagine her having the same hit boxes as Marth mostly because they're two different sizes. If they did just reuse all the hit boxes that would be extremely lazy imo

I'm thinking she's just as cloney of a clone as we've ever had. Whether she shares a slot with her original or not is a moot point.

I don't think that they'd give an alt her own personal newcomer banner on the site. Also correct me if I'm wrong but isn't she using a Fs in that pic with Luigi? If so it doesn't look like Marth's.

That's very possible. But I think that she is still going to get her own slot on the character selection screen. We've never had a full on alternate character in smash bros before so we don't know exactly how Sakurai will handle it. Wario is a good example, but that's a costume for the same character. Also with Zelda/Sheik and Samus/ZeroSuit separated I can't see Sakurai having a character space say Marth/Lucina. My guess is that she will just have her own space on the roster right next to Marth. This way she can have her own colors for team battles and what not.

Yeah! I think its gonna be a Roy situation just slightly "Ganonfied" not enough to be "Luigified" simply. "Ganonfied". If you notice, her dancing blade has a slightly different ending than Marth's.
