I'm actually siding with Warchamp in thinking she's an alt. Clones don't have the same idle animations as their originals (not even the Melee clones did):

Frame perfect. Notice how the hand slightly hovers in front of her chest where it should be on it because it uses the same rotations as Marth's animation but on a slimmer model.

I think she's a clone. Just she isn't finished design wise yet. Clone's usually get copy pasted then changed. Lucina probably just isn't finished

They are part of the same family, AND in the games Lucina goes by "Marth" and tries to BE Marth. So it kinda makes sense for her to be very similar.

Actually it was revealed today that Lucina does indeed occupy her own slot, so I acknowledge that I was wrong here. She is identical to Marth barring the fact that she cannot tipper and instead her strength is balanced throughout her sword.

I do personally think that this is the worst way they could have added this character into the game though. She could have been so much more interesting.

Nice! I've enjoyed a handful of these podcasts. There is just one constructive piece of advice I can give.. when someone makes a bold claim with absolutely NO evidence, you say, "Pics or GTFO!" Seriously. There have been quite a few instances where I can't even finish an episode because it's so wrong. The last example I can think of was with Palutena, something about no standard moveset, not usable online, etc.

Speculation is okay, that's what you're there to do. It's just when people call out things that never happened. "Sakurai says", no, Sakurai didn't.

What convenient timing. In today's Pic of the Day, as well with multiple quotes from Sakurai, Lucina is confirmed to be her own character (As opposed to Marth alt.). The only differences between her and Marth we know of so far are:

1. Different sweet-spot on the sword. Marth's is at the tip, Lucina's doesn't really have one in particular.
2. Lucina is slightly shorter than Marth.
3. Lucina is overall easier to play as. (?)

"Pic of the day. Along with Robin, Lucina joins the battle!! Her physical ablilites are identical to Marth's--it must be in her D.N.A. However, where Marth's power is concentrated in the tip of the sword, Lucina's attack strength is balanced throughout the weapon, which might make her easier to control. A lot of things have happened in the past week (Plus today) worth of pics. I can't wait to hear you guys talk about it.
Especially with the new main menu for the 3DS version. I think it's great that they took a Kid Icarus Uprising style to it. And it leaves me wondering what the StreetPass feature will exactly be as well as what connectivity there is to the Wii U version (Since we know you can't cross-play between the two versions). Maybe they have to do with trophies or just mixing data or records of some sort.

Sakurai seems to be very good at seeing how fans will react, judging that the Pic of the Day the very next day after the reveal was the one saying she's got her own spot on the roster.
Oh well, it was too good to be true. I was wishing she wouldn't be a full character on the roster, but whatever.
