Iwata thinking about Wii storage space

I read today on a website that Iwata is thinking about the limited space that the Wii has, here is the quote:

When asked about the Wii's memory, Iwata replied: "Statistically speaking, it is true that there are a small number of customers who feel that the flash memory is too small, while many others find that they have plenty of memory.

"However, because this small number of people are none other than the most avid players, we know we have to review the best possible solution to eliminate their inconvenience."

It may be going a bit too far fetched but if they expand on this it could open up possibilites of either patches sent by Nintendo for certain games. Most significantly, SSBB?

Your thoughts?

Well there's little denying the Wii doesn't have a very large amount of internal storage space for additional features. It certainly would be very difficult to support repeated patching in the state it's in now.

While it's possible that they would consider releasing an HD peripheral or taking steps to increase the amount of memory available, I still doubt there would be much effort or interest in patching the majority of their games, Brawl included. Patching wouldn't really sell any more copies of the game, and it's been made pretty clear from the Melee to Brawl transition that they can release any Smash game, even a lackluster one, and expect an overwhelming amount of customers, regardless.

They don't really need to worry about ongoing customer satisfaction with the Smash series, and so they most likely.. won't.
