Yeah, I have an iPod and I hear it can only download from iTunes. Is this true? If not, can you tell me what other sites I can download music from for my iPod. I am looking for different kinds of music such as Japanese music (anime music) and video game music. So yeah.

No, you can download songs from other sources. But we're not allowed to discuss illegal things here.

If you want to purchase music, go buy a cd. It's much more rewarding in my opinion.

You may have misinterpreted. Songs purchased from the iTunes store will only work in iTunes. I know methods of getting these out, but as F8AL said, we're not allowed to talk about illegal things here.

I have become accustomed to itunes and all of the songs I download auto-open in iTunes. Mp3 Mp4, I know, one way or another can be opened in iTunes. I think you can even watch formats of DVDS on it? I'm not to sure. I made a podcast as a class project once.

Well if you're asking if you can only put music on your iPod using iTunes, then (legally) yes, that's the only way you can put music on your iPod.

If you're asking if you can only play music purchased on the iTunes store on your iPod, no that's not true. You can get music from other, unnamed sources and play them on your iPod. iPod's support various amounts of filetypes.

Does anyone else know any other sites where I can get music besides iTunes for my iPod?

Uh ok, gotcha. Plus, why is this stuff illegal? I mean, I just need help on trying to download music from other places LEGALLY.

Please go buy CD's. Support the industry of pressing PHYSICAL CD's. Isn't it a great feeling when you're holding the legit music in your hand, case, booklet, disc and all? It just feels so much better when you actually OWN IT. What happens when your computer melts down and you lose everything off your hard drive? Your music is GONE. If you have a CD, you'll always have backup. Downloading music is bull****.

Ok, I never did say I didn't mind buying a CD, even though I should have mentioned that. Anyways, do any of you know where to get CDs that play anime music from Death Note, Naruto, and Kingdom Hearts?

Limewire or other sites then import them into Itunes, or burn cd's and import them into Itunes

Well Mr. Self-Righteous, not everybody would like to own a hundred CDs when songs and music can be stored on MP3 players and drives that are a fraction of the size and don't require a bulky CD player. As for "computer meltdowns", it's not hard to buy a simple flash drive, or use an external HD; this is the year 2008, data storage and backup are no longer really a problem.

I'm also not sure why you're so insistent on the whole "legality" thing, because the OP never suggested he/she wanted to download illegally; JuniorToons kept asking for legal sources and said that (s)he'd downloaded from iTunes, which is legal.

note: I have nothing against CDs (I own them too), I just think it's weird that someone would be so pro-CD and anti-MP3 in this day and age.

MP3 files may be extremely convenient but the songs are half the quality than that of a song on a CD, there is a notable difference when transferring songs from your CD to you computer.

It's really personal preference if you really like a band and all the albums they've made it's just a matter of CD or buying the album on the MP3 format. I had an English teacher who loved all kinds of music, but was outstandingly opposed to MP3's and only had an Ipod to have his music on the go, otherwise he would buy the CD and listen to it at home.

So it's just personal preference.

By the way Spire you can back up your MP3 files =\

Don't stop there. Buy vinyl.

Think about it. CDs can be ripped and pirated. I mean, sure, you might think a source like Borders or Amazon is selling you a legitimate CD, but how can you know? The simple truth is, you can't. The only way to be sure you're getting the legit music is to buy it on vinyl. Ever heard of anyone pirating a vinyl record? I didn't think so.

Also, with a CD, one little scratch and it's kaput. Bye bye music. All that money you spent on it is down the drain. With vinyl, you get a scratch and all you'll hear is one little bump in the recording.

The only way to get true sound quality is to get your music on an LP.

Anything else is just a digitized imitation of the authentic sound.

Aye, got me there! Totally forgot about Vinyl. Not only is it far more durable, but the quality is as perfect as you can possibly get. Unfortunately, vinyl is hard to find for a lot of music, and only gets pressed every now and then, and in limited stock (at least in my experience). Still, though, CD's are a million times better than downloaded digital music.
