I was, (and still am) setting up an online Brawl+ tournament and wondered stage selection. Has a lot changed between the two titles? With debates between friends, we think this is a good impression of the neutral and CP.

Neutral Stages
- Final Destination
- Battle Field
- Yoshi's Island (Brawl)
- Pokemon Stadium 2
- Smashville
- Luigi's Mansion

Counter-Pick Stages
- Wario Ware (Banned in Doubles)
- Pokemon Stadium (Melee)
- Lylat Cruise
- Frigate Orpheon
- Delfino Plaza
- Brinstar (Banned in doubles)
- Corneria
- Rainbow Cruise

- Green Greens *To be debated*
- Jungle Japes *To be debated*
- Castle Siege *To Be Debated*
- Halberd *To be debated*

What're your opinions? We're still discussing the bottom 4...

I haven't played b+ in a while since 3.0 or whatever, but what's up with Halberd being debated?

Here's a slightly conservative stage list

Starter
  • Battlefield
  • Final Destination
  • Luigi's Mansion (Deadlands)
  • Smashville
  • Pokémon Stadium 2 (Reversed)
  • Warioware (Frozen)
  • Yoshi's Island - Wii

Counterpick
  • Brinstar
  • Castle Siege
  • Delfino
  • Frigate Orpheon
  • Halberd
  • Jungle Japes
  • Lylat Cruise
  • Norfair
  • Pictochat
  • Pokémon Stadium 1
  • Rainbow Cruise

Banned
  • Everything else

I really think Wario Ware is CP. It's small size and strange platforming give characters with range huge advantages. And it's too small to accommodate doubles play.

By the look of your initial stage list...I'm thinking you may be part of the Atlantic South community lol. Simply because it's so conservative.

In that case, I would probably go with:

Neutral Stages
- Final Destination
- Battle Field
- Yoshi's Island (Brawl)
- Pokemon Stadium 2
- Smashville
- Luigi's Mansion (banned in doubles, screwed up spawn points for Deadlands)
- Pictochat (optional in frozen state; or banned)

Counter-Pick Stages
- Wario Ware (Banned in Doubles)
- Pokemon Stadium (Melee)
- Lylat Cruise
- Frigate Orpheon
- Delfino Plaza
- Brinstar (Banned in doubles)
- Rainbow Cruise
- Castle Siege

- Halberd

(Really don't understand how this is too small for doubles when it arguably bigger than Yoshi's Island Brawl...even on the floating platforms lol) But yes for singles this is a must.

- Corneria (I personally found it odd this was on your CP list first before Castle Siege or Halberd)

I personally feel Japes and Green Greens just promote camping. Of course it seems rarely anyone ever camps in Brawl+, but that's a mental thing that doesn't reduce from the fact that that's really what Japes, GGs, and Corneria (two Foxes...behind the fin...lol) do.

Finally, it would help if you would tell us your region where this event is hosted. The region has a lot to do with how most players feel about certain stages being allowed, what's in neutral, what's a CP...etc.

Like...Midwest is very liberal, it's not uncommon to see Distant Planet and Norfair as CPs...despite those stages having very...questionable stage qualities at times.

But Atlantic South is one of the most conservative regions, with any stage with anything dumb basically banned so to make every legal stage more about the players...not the hazards.

And so it's really up to your community at the end of the day. We on SWF can only help so much.

Wow. I actually am from Atlantic South. O_o
And thanks for pointing out Luigi's Mansion. I forgot about the spawn points. >_<

naw, they fixed the spawn point problem
Pictochat does not by any means need to be frozen. its a perfect cp as-is
Pictochat is pretty much banned down here lol. So I suggested he either froze it or he could leave it banned/possibly CP.

Also Luigi's Mansion is not fixed [yet]. People still spawn right next to each other.
