Pika?
I aws playing brawl last saturday against a PT, who mainly used squirtle. When the squirtle was around 20%, i down smashed him. He went to 47% and died. Weaknesses are very usable in this game cuz also, i was playing a kirby and his rock killed me at like...60% instead of the normal 100%...even though rock isn't good against electric, but its close enough to ground. New strategies and counterpicks will be used to accompany these weaknesses. Discuss...:)

It's pretty hard to discuss this but, I'll try.

I think this is the reason why PT ahs three pokemon and Pikachu's fast so he/she can avoid the rock attack maybe?

Isn't the damage based more on the weight of the character?

what stages were you at when this happened because pika's dsmash can only kill at low% on lower ceiling levels.... and same goes for kirby's downB but at 60% it's more believable

edit: the weight of the character doesn't influence damage (at least i dont think so) however, the weight of a character DOES influence sending distance/knockback

Yeah, I don't think so...

That'd be pretty much the dumbest thing ever. More to the point, I've never noticed an advantage over Squirtle and Charizard.

...there are no type advantages/disadvantages in this game. Otherwise, the whole mechanic and approach would be different, no?

Why is everyone doubting ESAM?

ESAM see what making a new name has done, now everyone thinks your just another guy posting randomly.

And BY THE WAY to everyone else. It IS true. Easiest way to see the truth for yourselves is to go to brawlcentral.com and go to the news archieves for the month of january. On there it has a chart that shows at what percentages the starting roster dies from Mario's Fsmash. But for some reason Ivysaur is the second worst on the list and Squirtle lived through the Final Smash BETTER than ALOT of other characters heavier than him. This is because Mario's Fsmash is Fire based.

Weaknesses and Resistances are real. It's not a joke.

Yeah, I don't think so...

That'd be pretty much the dumbest thing ever. .

Lol, oh god.

I still just can't believe it. A fighting game with weaknesses and resistances? It just seems silly. But if it's true, here's a couple of questions:
-Are both Charizard and Squirtle weak to Pika's shocks?
-Is Pika weak to Metagross' Earthquake and DK's f-B? Is Lucario?
-Is Lucario weak to Mario's fire? (part steel)
-Is Lucario resistant to every physical attack other than the fire/ground based ones? Obviously not. :p
-Is Ivysaur resistant to Pika's electric attacks? I've fought several of them and never noticed.
-Do anyone but the pkmn have weaknesses?

I dunno... maybe it is a cool idea. But it seems kinda unfair, don't you think?

Why is everyone doubting ESAM?
'Cause I don't know who the hell he is?

EDIT:
Okay, take a look at this thread.
http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=145980

Seems that there's one or two elemental weaknesses (possibly only fire and water), but certainly nothing as detailed as some of you people suspected.

Giving different elemental weaknesses was one of my first thoughts when I heard about Pokemon Trainer. I'm pleasantly surprised they did it- I was hoping they would. Now it looks like Pokemon Trainer players will actually have to know a little about general Pokemon rules. :)

But it seems pretty realistic, doesn't it?
I've experienced this too against Squirtle. I can confirm that it's not as resistant to Pika then to others. In fact, it's the opposite.

Pika?
I dont' have the game so you need to figure it out for yourself...and the only people i expect to know who i am are floridians and people in the samus boards...so no worries. I don't know why but it won't let me post here normally, it will lag and then say no nodes suitable or something like that. When i get the game ima test out the weaknesses.

Edit: IT FINALLY LET ME POST WOOHOO

Don't worry ESAM, I know who you are. I think you were at some of my FIU tournaments or something. Anyways, I doubt that this actually happens but I guess I'll try it out today.
