Just wanted to be the first one to post and make sure everyone sees how awesome 3.0 will be

Soooooo can someone please tell me how to use this? i can't wait for 3.0 to have melee SFX in PM, i just can't, this is a miracle really, i thought this would be completed much much much much later in the development of the game.

InternetExplorer, your the reason why i keep on using internet explorer, god bless......*sniff*...your soul

*ahm* but no really could someone tell me how to use this?

Amazing.
...does this mean we can all lend our voices to make crowd chants for Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard?

Someone better begin making a sound pack. I'll be expecting smash64 hit sound effects and announcer voice, also some melee slash sound effects.

Can we get some confirmation that PM 3.0 will make extensive use of this breakthrough?

The OP makes a lot of assumptions.

Nah don't waste your time, i just said that bc one of the biggest complaints from the melee scene in regards to PM has always been the melee "feel" and one of those asthetic elements has always been the SFX, like C. falcon's Knee SFX for example, so really you could say that I as in ME-thinks that they are probably gonna put it in, so again, just MY thoughts, although i do actually hope they include it with PM and find some kind of balance between Brawl, Melee, and 64. it would be amazing, and would certainly be a huge change to the asthetic part of PM.

Well, most of these fan packs already exist. Just now you can actually use them with Gecko instead of Riivo.

It probably just means you have an option to replace sfx threw hackless method, doesn't mean its official unless they announce it. I prefer some of brawl voices anyways. If you prefer fox/falco melee voice then theres the japanese sfx on bv (although it'll be nice if they add in c.falcon/gnw melee dying sfx). But yeah should add fushigishu voice over ivysaur so people atleast know its an girl (also wouldn't kill use purin's sfx over jigglypuff's.

please keep this stuff optional. A lot of melee/64 sfx are amazing, but keep it optional like textures and songs.

Also, if a low voice doesn't allow ivy to be female then think of it this way:

*** version = female

every other version = male

This stuff is always optional, if you don't like a SFX change you can revert it back yourself.

And maybe the Pokemon will get their own chants now, fingers crossed.

So i don't get it, what do i have to do to change the sound effects? Like how do i even put the code on? Could someone just point me where to go learn how to do this? please
The thread is mostly self explanatory, but I'll try to expand it anyway since I've done it successfully. The Replacement SoundBank Engine code needs to be added to your GCT; it's kind of like an add-on to the normal File Patch Code, so you need to have both of them active. You also need to get smashbros_sound.brsar, the file that contains all of the sound effects. Open that file in the Super Sawnds program. You'll be able to navigate the directories and preview all of the sounds. To replace one, select it in the Input field, pick a .wav sound (it should be roughly the same length as the original), and press Insert. When you're done replacing stuff, you can press Create .bnk and it will export it as a .bnk (I believe that this contains everything in the "Group ID", so there are multiple sounds in it). The .bnk files all go in a new "sfx" folder in your pf folder, and get loaded the same way that other files do.

Since all you're doing is exporting files from a brsar, you can take any existing brsar edit and export the sounds the same way. Or if you're lucky you can get the .wav and add it yourself. In any case, the sheer accessibility of loading sound effects in Gecko now should spark some more interest in sfx modding in general (in the past, there was little motivation to edit sfx since most people couldn't/didn't want to use them).

I think they should just include on the installer the option of adding in the sound effects or not. That is if the PMBR does make an official sound pack.

If this is real, and I can get my hands on how to alter the sound effects myself, I would have no problem creating a custom pack with all custom sound effects. And I'm not one of those cheap hood fools that cuts out on quality.

But wait... Am I able to use gecko to replace the intro? Don't know what does it have to do with this, just asking.

That really did not warrant a triple post + another bump, but no, this code is not for movies, it's for sound effects.

Everywhere in this thread I saw SFX, I replaced with sex, and laughed for a good 15 minutes, especially at the title and Comeback Kid's comment.

God I'm immature.

Okay, sorry, it's because I get the feel of being ignored if I didn't. I'll try to stop it.

I'm too lazy to do anything for myself, if someone makes a proper SFX package for gecko I'll love them forever

I've already had a custom sound effects pack for a long time, but would this be easier to use on Riivo then that ridiculous sawnds hex edit? Or would it even work on Riivo at all

Oh, I thought that was sarcasm, my bad. Anyways if you download one of sawnd files from Brawlvaults it will automatically replace the sound effects for that specific character, it was actually more time consuming adding the code itself.

How does one add the code? I've tried putting them in my .gct file but when I go to load the game, it crashes and reloads brawl. If I go into config. settings and check the thing that says SD File Patcher, it would say "File Patch not found" when I load the game.

I'm using hackless and I've inserted both the file patch code and other code that IE had in his post. Help?

I understand how to use Super Sawnds, but how do I go about adding the Replacement Sound Bank Engine to my GCT?

EDIT: Nevermind, found EditGCT

Just fyi, the melee sfx thread in the project m customized content board has a gct ready made with this code. So, you don't need to fiddle around with GCT editors if all you want is the code on project m. ^_^
