Similar to the Soundtrack contest and the Stage Creation Contest. This thread is for creating the best items. Items are meant to bring chaos and thrill into a Smash Bros match. And this thread is meant to create the most unique and interesting items for Smash 4.

When you submit an Item it will be graded like so:
Creativity: /10 How creative and unique is this item.
Accuracy: /10 How accurate to the source material is it. Does it at least behave somewhat like what it does in it's franchise.
Likeableness: /10 How much will the "Casuals" (the ones most likely to use your items) like them.

Judges:
Vegito2727
(If you want to judge PM me)

THIS ROUND IS:
DONKEY KONG!

Good luck!

Okay. Lehran's Medallion. Players touch it to activated as oppose to picking it up, kinda like the lighting bolt. It gives you, for a limited time, double knockback, damage, slight speed boost/less lag and Yoshi pseudo superarmor, but you take double damage. Kind of like a demented but more interesting Starman.

btw, your second criteria for judging is kinda pointless imo.

What I meant is so that it won't RIDICULOUSLY OP. like pick it up instant KO to any player. Sorta like how you have to collect the 3 pieces of dragoon to get it.

The Levin Sword

This is a Melee weapon that slices into foes with an electric effect. However, it can also be fired from long-range, where a thunderbolt will launch from the blade and zigzag forward until shocking the foe. It has unlimited melee uses, but only three electric shots.

There is one thing that first popped into my mind when I saw this, Tomes. I think they could use multiple elements for this such as fire, thunder, and wind. You pick it up and then use it by facing a direction and then use the attack button to cast it. it would be capable of firing multiple shots or you could do a smash attack to send one major shot.

Could you be just a tad bit more specific. Like EXACTLY What it does and not a general idea. So please more specific.

Master Seal (FE Awakening)
The Master Seal appears on the ground and shines, emitting a sparkling sound similar to the map sparkles from Awakening. When picked up, the character automatically does one of their taunts while being covered with a golden, blazing aura that protects them from attacks, after the taunt ends, the character will have their main attacks powered-up, when the character's a mostly-melee character, the Master Seal will only power up their physical moves, and when the character's mostly a projectile character, their special attacks (Pokemon terminology :p) will become stronger. The Master Seal's effect lasts for 45 seconds or until the character's killed.

I think Tomes would work very nicely as an item. Different elemental tomes would spawn on the field and whoever picks them up has the elemental effect of their attacks changed to the element they picked up. An example would be Mario's FLUDD being changed to a fire spitter or something.

Right behind you with a knife.

The Warp Staff

A little longer range than the Star Rod, you whack an opponent (or ally) with this and it teleports them about three to four character lengths away. If you hit them with the smash attack version of it, it teleports them about twice the range. The person generally is teleported forward, and may or may not be at the same elevation they were hit at. Randomly if the opponent is hit with the smash attack version of it, they will warp backwards instead of forwards.

It can't be used to kill directly and doesn't cause any damage when it hits. Just teleports. If you hit the opponent close enough to the stage boundary that they would theoretically be knocked out, the distance they would normally teleport hits the boundary wall, and then goes backwards from there, so if you hit an opponent right at the edge of a walk off stage, they could be teleported so that they are behind you, and you're in between them and the KO wall now. It's really just an annoying weapon, but if you hit an opponent with it at the right distance when they are trying to recover, it can be pretty deadly.

I really like this idea, but what about characters without elemental damage on any of their attacks?
Would they get any sort of boost?

Arms Scroll
Way it works is, any move that involves a weapon is is gradually boosted in damage and knockback as you keep using it . For example, since Marth uses the Falchion for all of his attacks, then all his moves keep getting stronger the more his attacks connect. As the Links have both a sword and a bow, those get boosted independently of each other.
Items spawned by characters (Links' bombs etc) don't receive this boost.

Obviously (or not so much), there'd have to be a magic/projectile and non-weapon versions of this, just to round it off nicely.
Would last around 30 seconds.

Edit: Totally missed D-idara's post.

Nosferatu Tome

It's a common tome in the Fire Emblem series, which saps HP from your enemies and restores your own.

In Smash, it would work like this:
When you use the item, if an opponent is close enough ( about one Battlefield platform away), then a fixed amount of your damage (say 10%) would be transferred to your opponent. It can be used 3 times.

If it is thrown, it would do very little damage, and will not activate.

A Reeking Box that makes enemies appear would be cool. They should attack everyone.

I'm all up for this a contest like this! Unfortunately, the only FE game I played was Sacred Stones so my knowledge on items isn't too good.

Don't Worry, We will have other rounds based on other franchises. ;)

Also as I previously said PLEASE BE SPECIFIC with your entries. The Judges and I will not accept entries like:

A Sword, it's a sword and it's amazing.

PLEASE BE SPECIFIC!

Heal Staff
Only available during team battles
Heals teammates through melee attacks
standard heals 2-5%
strong heals 5-8%
and smash (which shares a wind up time similar to the bat) heals 20%
Will also heal enemies within the attacks hit box, which causes a risk vs. reward type of situation.
Heals up to 80% then breaks forcing the player to throw it away.

Tiki's Tear

Increases the knockback resistance of a character for around 30 seconds. Also increases the other stats of the character slightly.
Think a lighter Metal Box without the fall speed.

Hand Axe

In the Fire Emblem games, a Hand Axe is a more common ranged axe used by various classes, such as the Warrior and the Fighter. In Smash Bros. the item would behave similarly, being a thrown ranged weapon that returns to you on impact (similar to Link's Boomerang). It would have 15 uses, do about %10 damage on each hit, and have a small to moderate knockback.

Oh, I love these contest threads and I'm glad we're seeing one focused on items. I'll definitely be watching this space and giving it my support. I think that "competitive usability" is a poor choice for a judging category, however. It's not my contest, though, so I'll work with it.

Fire Emblem is definitely one of the trickier franchises to develope items from. There have been several ideas I've liked quite a bit, so far.

Some of my ideas were already taken, but one I thought of was the Delphi Shield. It's a small, round shield. Picking it up and carrying it around would slightly reduce damage and knockback of received attacks while the holder was in the air. It could be thrown for moderate damage, but the incentive is to hold onto it.

In Fire Emblem, a Pegasus Knight would hold this shield to protect herself from deadly arrows. Pegasus Knights are constantly in flight, and normally take massive damage from archers.

The Fire Emblem.

It works as the Back Shield from Kid Icarus: Uprising, but it protects your front.

"Chrom, where are you carrying the sacred artifact that must be protected from all evil?"
"Oh, I'm using it as a shield, gg"

OK, I'll give it a shot:

Sol

A type of blade that appears in the Fire Emblem series. Wielding it allows the user to sometimes trigger the Sol skill, without even having to know the skill. Handy for allowing your units to heal themselves.

In Smash, Sol would work pretty much like it does in its home series. The Sol blade would function as a useful weapon, but it can also erase some damage from the person that's using it. However, like the Fire Emblem series, Sol won't always heal the user, and it will break after many uses. Also, if Sol does activate it's healing abilities, it only heals 1/8th the damage dealt.

A ballista! The same size as the box containers, the first one to get on it can throw 5 arrows. The range changes depending in how long you hold the A button. If someone hits you while using the ballista they can take your place and use it (like in the games). (Sorry if my english is bad)

Amazing guys! Tomorrow is the last day for entries. This round serves as a 'beta' round so we can tell what we did right and wrong.

Alright guys you win, the "Competitive Usability" standard is gone!
*cheers from the crowds*
But now each of the other 3 will be to 10 points instead of 5. So yeah.

Iron Lance

A simple pole-arm that can be used as melee weapon. Its function is a slow thrusting attack that is able to reach out further than most melee weapons. When thrown, it will be tossed like a javelin, able to fly further and faster than other thrown weapons.
