  • Each player may only play 1 character
  • Home stage if desired (Japanese can play DL, Peruvian can play hyrule)
My picks
pika - gerson
kirby - kikoushi
fox - alvin
falcon - captain tavo
mario - red
yoshi - maybe prince over sossy?
dk - amasawa
ness - nangoku
luigi - ruoka danchon
samus - jousuke

I'm not really sure how boom and jaime stack up against the international crowd and I can't think of any jiggs or link mains so I'll put...
jiggs - superboomfan
link - jaimeHR or tigerbombz? EDIT: sekirei or jaimeHR

who would you pick? <(^^<)

I'm also interested in this. Remember that I'm throwing $200 at either Isai's plane ticket or the tournament pot in which the12cb happens (provided it will be streamed or at least recorded).

i think boom would be the best choice for any character except kirby or pikachu. But you wouldn't want to waste talent like alvin and tavo/danchon or a lot of those other character specialists, so you might have the right idea in giving boom whoever is left over.

Alancitu should be yoshi. Even though he's retired I think he'd be better than the japanese yoshi's after some training.

There is a luigi main from peru that looked pretty good, Papacitas maybe? If you are going to use ruoka danchon he's gotta be falcon. Him and tavo gotta battle it out for that spot imo. I've also heard Bear from Europe is very very good. He's a kirby main I think, but he plays everyone.

Tigerbombz would not make the cut. Maybe sensei, jaimehr, and FULL POWER KB STAR KING could battle it out for link, because yea it seems like internationally link is not very popular.

mario/dk/ness are all up for debate imo. I think sensei/jaime/star king could compete for those spots as well.

twelve individual players is much more interesting than having boom take up 5 spots.

I wouldn't pick Alancitu for Yoshi. MAYBE he's the best but we have no evidence. His Yoshi videos are either against cpu's or noobs. Definitely gotta go Prince for Yoshi.

I think the only sure things are like Gerson (Pika), Kikoushi (Kirby), Red (Mario), Jousuke (Samus).

Not sure Nangoku is better then Sima or even Frogles honestly. I legitimately have a tougher time vs Frog than I did vs Nangoku. Switching versions may have factored in though.

Tavo is one of the most entertaining players to watch in ssb64. Boom might be more efficient though.

The rest I don't even wanna guess. Does amasawa even play anymore? Last vid I saw of him was from like 2006.

Alvin for fox
Nangoku? For ness (maybe boom instead)
boom for everything else

hmmm you prolly right bout samus i forgot because he was at the BOTTOM of the list. never know until they play though. Japanese samus is way better with the lack of di allowing for defensive upb

I think Isai would be a good Link for the world in the crew battle against himself....

In all seriousness, are there really no amazing Links out there?

People always say that Jousuke is only good cause Japanese version UpB as if they have never watched his games.

He primarily uses the move to break shields, it isn't like he spams UpB and wins, he is just damn good.

What if the Japanese players could play the Japanese version for their matches. I haven't played that type enough to know how the diminished DI, Isai's DI skill/knowledge relative to his opponent, and overall character differences would effect the balance of the match.

I would really like see Isai's order of character picks, though that's entirely dependent on the situation.

According to videos I do better vs Nangoku than Prince does. Again not sure if switching versions played a big part.

I think Prince is better than me. Probably not a clear cut above though. His combo game is clearly above mine. I think I'm probably better at certain things though.

woah woah i never said that's the only reason he's good. Obviously its not, but it can be used to escape tricky situations much like mario/luigi up-b or pika's up-b in the us version. But yea I just wonder how boom vs jousuke samus dittos would go. If an actual global super tournament is created I'd probably front some cash to make it happen. Also I'd actually try to get really good for once so I would win it all :)

Actually Sima is definitely better than Nangoku, I just wasn't sure he still played until I checked Youtube.

"Global super tournament" just makes it sound like it's impossible to be put together lol. Would it really be that impossible to organize a big 64 tournament for next January (considering the fact that apex isn't happening, unless that changed again)? With the help of this community anything could happen, and the Japanese players have already shown up to play. The Peruvians expressed a lot of interest in coming over on some of the Apex vids comments, so if players of those two groups came, Isai vs the world could happen.
I wouldn't be able to physically help with this thing, because I won't be in the country, but I will stand by my promise of donating the $200

It could potentially be pretty tough. #1 everyone has to be free for the weekend, so the date would have to be nailed down early. If we are just taking the top of the top, gotta fly out at least like 5 players from Peru, probably at least that many from Japan, maybe like 4-5 from Europe, maybe like 1 from Australia :troll:, not to mention getting people to come from around NA is not an easy task either. How many people can afford their own plane ticket is anyone's guess, but each person that needs to get flown out would run over $500 easily. So your $200 contribution and mine of probably a similar amount might be able to get 1 person over. To put this together we would need the perfect date and a lot of money.

Tough but not impossible. Yeah, $500 doesn't sound good at all, but if people push for this, it could happen. Nintendude just announced that there will be a ssb64 tournament at Zenith w/ pools, but that'll only attract NA players. Idk.. obviously I don't play or anything, so I don't want to suggest stuff that won't work, but at some point it would be cool to see a big ssb64 tournament where tons of people play. Just hit me up when it happens and I'll donate

Red (also referred to as Red Mario) used to be considered the best in Japan. Think I heard something about him not really playing "competitively" anymore, but he definitely still plays for fun. There are recent videos of him going even if not better than even with Jousuke, Prince, and other top players in Japan.

Red is so dope.

I love how little we know about the japanese smash scene. it lends a tone of mysticism.

Yup after I said that I looked through yaneyane's channel and there's a lot of recent amasawa vids.

Red appears to still be one of the best in Japan. From the all the recent vids I've seen it doesn't look like anyone is legitimately better than him. I guess he just doesn't enter tourneys at all (online or console) so you guys have never heard of him like Jousuke. But back in like 2006 everybody knew Red was the best lol.

p.s. Red would probably take Luigi's spot for this 12 character battle too.

EDIT: Japan has 200 person online tourneys wtf... Their ssb64 scene is so amazing. My dream is to go visit there for a month and play nothing but ssb64 24/7.

you would be so amazing if you did that. Really the whole community could be a lot better. Real pro gamers (that make a living off of the games they play) practice like 8 hours a day. Imagine how good we could all be if we had time to do that ****. Guys if we make this a profitable industry we CAN do that!

Yup King Funk's blog post about his experience at the Japanese smash community is awesome. Without King Funk's help the 3 Japanese players probably wouldn't have made it to Apex either. Go King Funk. Hope he got his money back from them though.

great thread! To find the best 12 people, we have to find out whats best of having the strongest top tiers, or second strongest top tiers and the strongest players on the low tiers, so isai doesnt stomp half the chars to easy.

Its an interesting dilemma with fox. Imo boom is the best fox(except isai ofc). And alvin, S, mahie, sensei, jaimehr and fays are all really good foxes as well. So im not sure if we should put boom on fox, or use him on low tiers and let the second best foxes fight it over the last spot.

And I understand people putting kikoushi as kirby since there are any rescent videos of bear. But imo bear is a serious contender for kirby. I think theyr pretty even. He do play every caracther on a really high level. So since there is lack of DKs and I dont know if kikoushi can play other chars I would probably put kikoushi on kirby and bear on DK. Bears DK is a mean ape!

@sheer red mario is the commentator on the tourneys, thats why he doenst enter. I think he still enter the online tourneys though.

I'd agree bear's kirby is probably not as good as kikoushi's. Especially since bear has probably not played for a long time. I'd say battlecow's falcon and aa's link would be the best pick. Not sure about the rest.
