Other wise we become like the Metroid fans. 4 years and a rumor about a 3DS Metroid cancellation due to Other M. We've seen worse but still
Look at it like this; as bad as Dark Dawn may have been to some on a perspective basis, at least we still have a better chance than Metroid.

Hasn't that franchise gotten, like, three cancelled projects since Other M? And yet Sakurai felt obligated to give that farce a lion's share of crap in Smash 4.

Well it is Metroid, a very big franchise, it isn't that surprising it has gotten representation even from its new game.
It is a very big franchise, yeah, but at the same time, I personally feel that, right now, Metroid is one of those, to borrow a phrase you use, "has no future" franchises, given how Nintendo didn't celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Metroid (same year as The Legend of Zelda, yes, but it did deserve some mention), and it looks like a Metroid game is towards the bottom of Nintendo's intentions for now, given how badly the latest game has been recieved. And, even though it was a new game, I felt they went overboard with Other M stuff.

And even you have to admit the reaction was worse than Dark Dawn's.

As a whole, Dark Dawn was widely praised upon release. After release it started getting some negative attention from fans and it wasn't taken as well as fans of the first two games, but it received universal praise from critics. Dark Dawn isn't a bad game, it just wasn't as good as the first two.

Metroid: Other M really IS a bad game. You don't see people running around asking for an Other M sequel. I see people running around a lot online asking for a Dark Dawn sequel. WatchMojo.com even included Dark Dawn as #2 on the most wanted games with cliffhangers that deserve a sequel (and these entries are voted by WatchMojo's fans and also organized). The only reason Dark Dawn didn't make #1 is because they stated that there was still a pretty good chance a new Golden Sun could happen, while there was almost no chance of Shenmue 3 ever happening.

As for sales, Japan sold about 88k in two years. Not very great. But we never got numbers for the west. NA and Europe typically always sell better, and this was the trend with GS1/2. It probably at least hit 500k worldwide from the NA and Europe sales. (I doubt VGChartz' numbers of 700k.)

Either way, out of a large variety of franchises that haven't had a game in a while or whose future's are question, Golden Sun is among the more likely and viable candidates to have a new game in development right now. The pieces all line up together perfectly. Now we just have to wait for Camelot.

I actually really liked Dark Dawn, although it was insanely easy and a little short. When I faced the final boss, only two characters died and then he was beaten and I was like "That's it? Damn" But it was a solid game, maybe not as put together as the last two but still. I did miss the opportunity to transfer data or SOMETHING from the previous two games, which may have been possible on a DS as seen in Pal Park from the Pokemon games.

Nintendo is talking about getting its core gamers back--wouldn't a new Golden Sun fall into that category?

What they really need is a solid pair of RPG franchises moving on into the future to bring RPG fans back. RPG's were everywhere on Nintendo back on the SNES. Nintendo killed the RPG fanbase with N64 because it wasn't a good system for RPG's, and they haven't gotten that audience back. Xenoblade will help, but they could also use a more traditional RPG franchise--Golden Sun is Nintendo's only recent traditional RPG franchise right now.

Mother, of course, predates Golden Sun, and Mother 2 (Earthbound) was popular, but the franchise is confirmed over, while Golden Sun could easily expand in numerous different ways.

Exactly. And the GBA and DS are actually suprisingly abundant with RPGs and strategy games! Although RPGs on consoles are generally seen as more "epic," and more of an investment, good RPGs could help the WiiU out a LOT.

Although I'm a die hard fan of the Golden Sun series, I really liked Dark Dawn. It wasn't received very well, but it was still a pretty good game imo (sorry for the bias). However, from the 3, Dark Dawn is probably the least good, simply because, first of all, it doesn't add much to the plot (although it introduced some cool concepts, such as Dark Adepts, Psynergy Vortexes, the Tuaparang, etc.), those weren't that developed and it instead of solving some GS2 plot issues, it only added more plot issues.

And the biggest flaw of the game for me was that the game was ridiculously easy. The Tuaparang are nothing compared to the antagonist duos of the first franchise and by the end of the game, you get huge amounts of experience from pathetic enemies, that are weak to all elements, so just spam Djinn and level your entire party like 10 levels in 10 minutes. Spend an hour or two grinding there and there you go, a whole 99 party.

Not only that, you only explored the continent of Angara and they kinda removed the arena as the post game (with an online mode, it would have been awesome and would kinda justify the easy way to level up at the end of the game).

So, if GS4 happens (which I'm hoping this year, by E3 time, with a possible teaser on one Nintendo Direct) I hope it features new post-game, such as online arena, Colosso, as well as free exploration to all of the continents and the total explanation of all the plot issues that are still hanging in the air. As a bonus, I hope this brings Isaac as a free DLC character, as well as a GS4 theme New 3DS. Also, an Isaac amiibo that is compatible with both GS4 and Sm4sh.

Again, if Smash 4 DLC happens and if GS4 is in development, Isaac is an extremely likely DLC candidate, since he's been desired for so long and he's not restricted as an AT at this point in time.

As for GS4, I think they may very well make Isaac playable in a side story, since he was shown at the end of the prior game doing something fairly important. But yeah, Dark Dawn didn't really resolve the story, and that's something GS4 HAS to do.

They CAN leave some things open for possible continuations, but all existing plotlines must be resolved, just in case its the last game. And if the game sells well it can continue.

Just started playing Dark Dawn again. Absolutely love the Golden Sun series and a sequel to DD is definitely something that has to be made considering the ending it got. Isaac and Mathew are my favourite protagonists of the series. Add me to the list of supporters please! @ N3ON N3ON

Well, regardless of whether or not you have Matthew be polite, he still cusses at Alex.

DLC PACK:Brand New Series 9.99
-Sami (Takes Snake's Moveset)
-Isaac
-Inkling
-Henry Flemming
-Wonder Red
-Chorus Kids
Stages: Remix, Splatton Hub, London, City Defense, Orange Star Battlegrounds, Venus Lighthouse
30 New Songs added to game

I don't know what songs. I am just starting Golden Sun. So guys, a few questions on this.
1. Is Venus Lighthouse a good stage choice? I heard the idea tossed around a bit.
2. What songs would you guys wish for if you got say 5 songs added to the game as remixes?
3. Would you buy this pack?

And Vale is way to calm for a fighting game
It wouldn't be the first time a song would get remixed into something more akin for battle.

1. Yes
2. Isaac's theme, Saturos theme, Title theme, Lighthouse Medley, and some song from DD to be fair.
3. Ofc I would. However, I can't say some of those character choices are particularly likely, nor is that price for that amount of content.

Yeah, but I'd prefer Andy over Sami.

I have never played Advance Wars (I'd like to) so from a design standpoint Sami is clearly superior. Also has a better theme song.
If Snake doesn't come back ever (at this point, he probably won't) then I'd like her to have a similar moveset, but a carbon copy of it. That would just be lazy.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. We might have to make a few sacrifices here and there, but I think this would be a good newcomer formula for DLC.

To answer your questions:

1. It's a de facto suggestion by many because it's an important area in Golden Sun's story.
3. Yes.

As for 2... give me a bit more time.

1. Yes, definitely, However, I've also heard a ship traveling all around Weyard from someone of this thread and that is also an awesome idea.

2. Isaac battle theme; Saturos battle theme; Golden Sun Dark Dawn boss theme 2; Colosso Battle Theme/Trial Road; Golden Sun rises.

3. Also, if the price is indeed 9.99 for all that content, I would definitely buy it, although I would mostly use Isaac and probably Wonder Red.
