Is this a light shining on the possibility of a holiday demo?

confirmed. Sending supplies.
"That's not to say that we won't be making good changes: we're publishing an annual Holiday issue (sandwiched between the December and January issues), and we have very exciting plans for a bigger and better NintendoPower.com. And over time, we will always look for ways to evolve and improve every aspect of the magazine."

That's from the new Nintendo Power site, which contains nothing but an introduction from a Future US member (the paragraph above is from the introduction) as well as subscription stuff. However, that paragraph got me thinking. Do you think Nintendo will be kind enough to include a demo in this year's Holiday issue? I mean, what better way to kick off Future US's start on Nintendo Power than an SSBB demo as a holiday gift? It's not like this hasn't happened before (although not a demo). "Smashing...Live!" anyone?

Post your thoughts...

I'm already subscribed. However, my subscription ends Jan. '08, so am I good? I hope so... because I REALLY want this demo if there is one. Do you get the Holiday issue if you're subscribed?

In the preview of the next NP in the Dec. issue it says:

"And Lots of Cheer!"

"Surprises big and small await faithful NP readers in the first annual holiday issue, so we recommend watching your mailbox closely!"

I'm excited! :D

Hm. Good thing I pre-ordered just before the switch. Got the National Pokedex instead of the Phantom Hourglass strategy guide. As useless as they both are, the Pokedex is both worth more and at least stays slightly useful for a longer period of time.

I did forget that the Holiday issue might have a demo, hopefully it does.

It's probably not going to be a demo, but oh how nice that would be!
It might just be a preview package of Brawl exclusive to Nintendo Power though: that is what they have done in the past.
Oh... how nice it would be to be wrong.

Somewhere, most likely existent
Ugh. I'd be more happy about this but I ALWAYS get my NPs way late and since I JUST resuscribed, I'll get any sort of demo like a month later than I should. D:

I'm still awaiting it though! Here's to not having our hopes and dreams crushed!

I'll probably subscribe for this, but I hate magazines that only focus one system. I'm not that kind of gamer.

Ah, this magazine is such good value anyway that this is just icing on the cake. It's like less than two bucks an issue for a year, plus they are just begging to give you free player's guides and junk.

I don't mean to rain on anyones parade... but don't they say a somewhat vague yet positive statement EVERY year? It's their job as magazine editors to reel people into their issues, and keep them coming... what better way to do it than with a cliffhanging statement like that?

Either way, I'm subscribed anyways

Oh, I loved it when we got a free Melee soundtrack a few years back.

A demo would be awesome.

First off: I'd like to say that I love Nintendo Power.

Second: there is definitely a chance that a demo will be given to subscribers

Third: although this chance exists, don't get your hopes up. Remember this is the same magazine that still has December third as the release date. I do not have a problem with that because it was out of their hands, but you know it takes a lot of preparation to get several thousand (if not more) demos ready to be packaged. If NP didn't know to ask for a demo for the Holiday issue until we knew of the delay, the only way for it to happen is if NOA already had it planned, which is possible but fairly unlikely.

Finally: However it is likely that NOA will ship a demo to your local Game store for the holiday season (most likely around Dec 3) just because there is no reason not to.

Either way, you can tell that demo is supposed to eventually come out of Nintendo hands. The demo was missing one key character; which just so happens to be a character that carries the data to all other characters (whether revealed or unrevealed) in the game: Kirby. Had Kirby been in the demo and the demo got released the roster would be spoiled by some hacker. But since the copycat was conveniently left out, the demo can be released to the public in one form or the other.

So don’t get a NP subscription unless you really want one (which I subject you do because it is really great magazine) you will get to play it soon enough. Of course if I’m completely wrong you’ll get to play it on February 10, haha. Is anyone still reading this? Sorry it’s so long…

You're thinking of Official Nintendo Magazine in UK.

"Hey guys, huge exclusive next month!"
"Sorry guys, they pulled out"

"Hey guys, big big news next month!"
"Sorry guys, it wasn't ready"

"Hey guys, big worldwide exclusive next month"
"Oops, couldn't get it our bad"

"Wii stand recharges!"
"Oops, no it doesn't"

Yeah that magazine made by nintendo really is outstanding, totally unbiased reviews and previews on all the best games.
Oh wait..
Anyway if they were to actually put out a demo disc for a game it wouldn't matter much because hell would then freeze over.

They haven't been like they for awhile.
and I don't think they're even owned by nintendo now
Although they still continue to work pretty close to them.

I hate to say it, but NintendoWarrior is probably right. Still, pessimistic much? You seem like a Warrior AGAINST Nintendo. Your posts are always a drag to read. You could look on the glum side of winning a million dollars.

Is there any reason I couldn't just pick this up at a grocery store?

I'm hoping us nonsubscribers could just pick it up at a grocery store cuz there is no way I would subscribe just because there is a small chance of there being a demo

I hope its not a demo, because then I'd be pissed that only NP subscribers get it. And even if its Brawl, I'm not resubscribing just because of a demo...
There's always eBay...

There's always...taking it out of the magazine, and putting it in your pocket.

Has a demo ever been released with a Nintendo Power magazine?

I guess I'll subscribe. I had always thought about subscribing to it before, but if there's a chance for a demo I'll take it. Even if it's not a demo, I'm already too curious about the gift :(

I'm at a current rift at the moment.

All this talk about the possibility of a demo for their holiday issue makes me want to subscribe now.
But I'm worried if it's nothing special, and I'd end up wasting 20 bucks when I could read them at a local bookstore.

But then, if the issue comes and it IS said demo, would it be too late to subscribe for that?

I don't know what to do!

It says special Holiday issue so its not like other issues in which articles and such need to be written as much in depth. NP has never had an issue like this so who knows what is to come from it.
