The reason Peach uses her "butt" is because it's a visual joke. Peaches are often associated with looking like butts. Butt, Peach got her name most likely because of the old phrase "you're such a peach." It means she is a bright and sweet person, in a very obvious way. Peaches also have a very tough core/pit that you could choke on or hurt your teeth. So Peach sounds like a perfect name for our sweet and secretly horrifying Princess Toadstool, right?

Anyway, back to peaches = butts and her butt being a visual joke. It in no way sexualizes her character. She is actually using her hip, a very solid part of the human anatomy. She has a very delicate frame, so it makes sense if she would use things such as elbows, feet, hips, weapons, large sweeping/spinning motions, or (since this is a game) magic. Keep in mind that Peach is basically wearing a downplayed hoop skirt. So if she thrusts her hip, it's going to look like a side-butt.

When she does her Dthrow, she is basically jumping up and ground pounding the target followed by dropping her elbow down on the poor fool.

Her Bthrow is a simple grapple using her opponent's weight to bring the opponent around to her side before hip checking them away.

Her Bair is more of a floating side butt/hip check.

Her side B is a magic fueled flying hip check. Which is probably why they initially used explosions instead of hearts. though they changed it to hearts to fit her character and most likely to represent her heart magic.

Regardless of that, I still always assume they are all super twerk attacks.

In the end they are hardly sexual. Wario is the only character who blantantly uses his gross ass to attack. Also, this game has far more "sexy" males than females. All the females are either cute or classy. ZSS is the only sexy one, and in the end it's just because she's wearing a suit from a game (canon+isn't just to be sexy). She's a giant amazon woman, so to be honest, she would probably make Peach's/Zelda's conservative attire look unusually sexy.

Disregard her "Daisy Dukes with bikinis on top" California Gurlz style... Bcuz Shulk swimsuit.

Oh and I guess Ike too. He is easily the sexiest thing in this game, regardless of whether you find male figures attractive or not. Samus needed to step it up to represent female sexiness to combat Ike's sexiness. For the record, she failed.

Finally the only logical thing I have ever read in this thread.

What the hell? Peach is the pinnacle of a joke character. She's the portrayal of a stereotypical helpless princess and they have exaggerated it so much to the extent she has become a walking spoof of ultra-feminization (not to be confused with ultra-sexualization), showing traits that are regarded as extremely girlish. How is she not a joke character in this?

Honestly, feminization may not even be the correct word. Rather, I would like to use a word like girlization or girlishization since she is supposed to behave like a cheerful and sweet 10-year old girl, hence fighting with slaps, hearts and rainbows instead of fists, swords and guns like a more sane woman would do. There is nothing sexual in any of her attack, which includes her butt attacks. Rather, her butt attacks are ridiculous. It's downright impossible to attack with your butt like Peach does. Attacking with your butt shouldn't be hurtful to your opponent in anyway, or at least it doesn't look like it could be remotely painful. The idea of attack with your butt is simply so ridiculous that it merely looks playful, childish and thus cute.

There is also the notion in society that being playful with your butt is feminine of girlish. Imagine a cute, childish male replica of Peach doing Peach Bombers and other butt attacks over the place. I can imagine a lot of people would think that's 'gay', since boys aren't supposed to attack with their *****. However, even the idea of a boy being childish, playful and cute seems to instignate the reaction that the boy is 'gay'. For some reason, we think that these qualities (childish, cute, playful, butt attack) belong to mainly to girls. Princess Peach is nothing more than a ridiculed reflection of the traits and qualities that we as a society connect to extreme girlishness. Attacking with your butt is one feature that is regarded as girlish for reason written above, and even if it is being regarded as girlish or feminine, it does not mean it has to be regarded as sexual as well.

What would have been worrisome is if all girls in this game were to portrayed as cute and girlish stereotypes but that is not the case. Her fellow princesses Zelda and Rosalina are much more serious than she is and we have a few female warriors such as (Zero Suit) Samus, Lucina and female Robin who don't even come close to showing hyper-feminine characteristics. There is nothing wrong with having one ultra-feminine character, especially not if that character is meant to be comical in every aspect anyway.

Regarding the hips/buttocks thing, it's definitely her buttocks. This can be seen plain as day by doing one of her butt attacks and rotate/zoom the camera. She's not using her hips just because Nintendo are so politically correct they can't use the word "butt". Also, I'm pretty sure the Japanese word "oshiri" doesn't differentiate between hips and butts, which could explain why they call them hip attacks.

Then, regarding if Peach's butt attacks are sexy or just cute - I think it very well could be both. It depends on who you ask. But from a creator's perspective, I'm sure that they were well aware that a cute princess thrusting her butt in your face could potentially be seen as sexy. In contrast to other butt attack characters like Wario and Luigi, Peach is meant to look attractive, and that's why her butt attacks can be seen as sexy, while Wario's and Luigi's are just comical relief.
