The Diddy sucked. We can all agree he wasn't playing as involved as very serious Diddy's... you can just tell he had no 'presence' in the match - he didn't make you focus on what he was doing in order to beat him.

I somehow patiently waited until 01:00, but your Ness, also, had no presence. You seemed to succeed only in virtue of your moves being as powerful as they are. Now, to give all credit where it's due, of course you obviously weren't button mashing; your move choice somehow improved after 00:37 (no random bat whiffs), but if that Diddy was trying any harder to avoid you, or was doing any better to hurt you... you didn't give indication you could have responded. Your combos were somewhat... tenuous, and above all, your flow was haphazard - I couldn't see you moving toward a win; you weren't controlling your opponent's movements with your attacks. You just hit him, and as damage went up, of course it was more likely the opponent would die.

I really am not seeking to be harsh here - I'm really happy to see Ness coming back, and anyone picking him up.

I know Ness vids are incredibly scarce on YouTube for some reason. But try watching games, 's all I can say. Weak platitudes that won't mean much until you see a vid:

Dash attack is your friend
PK fire on heavy weights
Jump = primary mode of transportation
Fair = incredible

And smashes are better than you everyone around here thinks.

PK-ow, That's exactly how I play. I also use the up air in the middle of his amazing double jump to knock people upward, and that PK fire heavy weights is a nice tip. I'll remember it next time I see Ike. Oh, and when you're opponent is distracted by someone else, and you're just there, PK flash can be your friend as well, because they're not paying attention to you.

yeah uhh diddy sucked. BTW, I'm very ness crazy, but I'm going to be honest, he really doesn't top many characters at all exactly like he did in melee. Sadly, he isn't design to fight against most characters, especially characters with weird hitboxes or speed. They made freaking lame Lucas better than him. Sakurai could've at least gave ness some more extended hitbox moves, or at least make his PK Fire, Magnet, and Flash more versatile, ESPECIALLY HIS PK MAGNET WHEN YOU COMPARE IT TO LUCAS (Ness' magnet is slow and the push effect is completely unusable compare to Lucas' quicker magnet that's great for attacking [THUS PUSHING THE FREAKING OPPONENT], absorbing, even recovering). Dang, so lame..:urg:

Lucas isnt better than Ness. You just havent unlocked his true potential. His game isnt in his specials and smashes. Its in his godly airgame and grabs. Lucas just seems better at first since he is easier to pick up.

Ness owns in this game. Period.

NOOB ALERT, NOOB ALERT!

Ness was bottom tier in Melee. Or do you know what a tier is? Also Lucas doesn't overshadow Ness at everything. Ness has a better... Up B move.

His sentence construction may have been poor, but I gather that he did say that Ness' suckiness in Brawl is "exactly like" his suckiness in Melee. So he claims.

Earthbound360 must be Stephen Colbert, for he only speaks the truth. Lucas is easy to pick up. I'd say Ness' fighting is in his air game and grabs, yup, but firmly indicate that his smashes serve a functional role, for just certain occasions that come up as you're poking your opponent around. U-smash is like a secret weapon - so good hitbox, great power.

Notice that D-smash has a slightly longer range in the front than the back, unlike Melee, but nothing like 64's yoyo, of course. It's only advantage over the U-smash seems to be that, *from the time* Ness slings it forward, it takes less time to put it away than it does take Ness to put the yo-yo away when U-smash reaches its apex. So much like 64, it again calls on you to use the move a little bit in advance. If it hits, you get good knockback and the reward of the ability to chase.

B-moves are indeed nonstandard for Ness, it seems. I'm not sure what it is, but you just can't throw around even his PK Fire like you can with Lucas. Special, special occasions that can only be known in the moment.

But as for PK Thunder on the other hand...:p

No, really. PK Fire against a character like Ike or DDD = win. They're too heavy to escape it, and it's awesome. Especially PK Fire to Down-grab.

Lot's of fire in that one. xD

FINALLY someone who understands. I hate people saying 'lolztoptier' Brawl has no tier, it's called 'accellertation'

*aghem* Dare I compare this game to mario kart double dash. The n00bs use the karts that accelerate quicky, and think they're already good in a quick amount of time. But in about two minutes, when the opponent reaches top speed, though you won at first, now your opponent is better, and can completely dominate you, and knock you off the annoying bridge of dino dino jungle.

I hated that level. Stupid blue dinosaur!!!

But anyways, on Brawl, yes, it seems like people are attracted to what is most appealing first: mainly specials and smashes. And occassiounally the forward tilt. Now who generally has the better of the two? Lucas seems better for the most part. PK Fire and stick own the bat. And PK Thunder and Freeze only SEEM better at first making them wanna use it more.

My point is, what may feel good at first may not always be the best in the end.

Lol thanks.

People usually look for damage, knockback, and range in smashes. Compared to Lucas, Ness smashes are inferior to those categories, and people dismiss their gleaming ability. Ness' hasspeed, duration, combos, and mindgames.

Ness' usmash is usually considered inferior to Lucas, but I refuse to believe that. I find myself using around the world more than PK Blast. Its usefullness out of shield and dash and its combo and speed potential make it oh so awesome.

Same goes for dsmash and add mindgames to the equation. Also remember, Ness dsmash can KO if used properly (unchared yo-yo using back swing. You hit with the charge hit and then the pull back immediately.)

Lucas' PK Fire owns Ness' Sure, Ness is more worthwhile to hit with, but its not as easy due to its angle and overall speed. Also, Lucas has like a mamillion glitches in his PK Fire O_o

I love Ness, and I also love Lucas, but I hate all the comparisons they make and the wall between the players. Lucas fans claim Lucas is better, but then Ness fans just seem to have an unnatural hatred for Lucas. I NEED to get my comparison topic done soon to end this for good.

Well, Lucas is a pretty crappy character in Brawl (in regards to charisma and personality), unlike in his actual game Mother 3.
Ness was designed much better in the Smash series. He actually *gasp* smiles!

Lucas: :urg:
Ness: :bee:

Not everything's based on their movesets. Lol

Even though Ness is only my new secondary rather than my main, I must say that I think you used your bat at random times too much. If you're going to use the bat I recommend a Dtilt first, nothing is more annoying than being tripped by nesses Dtilt and getting tipped by the insane power of the bat.
