I would'nt say luigi is underrated because if he is then mario is, I mean like most of luigi's attacks are stronger then mario's plus he jumps higher.

Why is this thread still alive?

Luigi: Not underrated.

Boss: Highly underrated.

What else is there to discuss?

That was Ka-master back in melee. I don't know what the **** you're talking about now. I play WA smash and our top player is a MK. I'm the best Luigi in the area and I'm not even on the PR yet (though I will be soon!). So... you're entitled to your own opinion, just don't spout out 2 year old information like that plz kthnxbai.

My opinion:
Luigi has almost the right place in the list. I think he could be a low Fighter of the High Tiers, but not more.
The reasons have been showed. MK is bad. DDD has his Infinite. G&W is bad...
Snake has often too good prios. My method is to be near Snake and to fight against him in the air. This was often helpful. If snake can't use his projectiles, my Luigi will have less disadvantages.
Due to Rob: It's almost the same thing like ROB. Rob has good Aerials, but Luigis Airs are faster, i think. The bad thing is the traction against ROB. His Aerials push Luigi either way away. Than Luigi is distant und ROB can use his projectiles ... hm ...
My technique is to be agile, fly through the air (not due to the enemy's attack xD) und combo, combo, combo. The High/Top Tiers like DDD, Snake and ROB are heavy. That's very good for Luigi's Combo Ability.

But because of the traction, his small range (he has no sword :3) and his disadvantages especially agaonst sword users he is around a Mid Tier or at most a low High Tier

Thx for reading >:3

No more talking about Luigi's traction being bad for him, if you learn to powershield you don't slide. If you learn to shield at the right times, you can use the traction to space your opponent.

Seriously, it's his poor tractions that allows him to Craq-Walk and MoonWalk so well. Coupled with CrawlDashing A La Vist, and you quickly realize that Luigi's defensive approach game is on the foundation of his low traction.

Flying through the air to combo, combo, combo, is the reason so many Luigi players fail against campers. It's all about his defensive game; that's what makes or breaks him as a character. Lopsided offensive game =/= A Luigi Metagame worthy of a higher rank in the tier list. That's why we aren't higher than we should be, we need more representation for the Defensive aspect of Luigi, because you know...we are playing Brawl after all.

Right, right and I really like the traction, but often I hear that this shall be a bad ability of Luigi. I wanted to call it here to see what reactions will come. Luigi has Auto-Spacing :3
I see many Luigis who don't powershielding, because they don't want. I don't know, whether they can it or not, I didn't asked, bad that's not important.
i think your idea with th representation of the defensive aspect is really nice, but personally I play at first a offensive Luigi to make combos. With a special percentage level this becomes really difficult and than I use defensive tactics.
And ... Fireball ftw! This Attack can stop other projectiles or even attacks like Jigg's Roller :3
I think this is a important fact, which is often forgotten.

I powershield almost every attack, because that's how you prevent Luigi from sliding when you don't want to. I suggest in general people powershield, as it's a universal skill with added importance to Luigi.

You'll come to understand that when you play offensively with Luigi against the same mate you've been playing smash with since 64, you need to change up your game. Luigi gets predictable on the offensive. Glad to see you know the advantages with Fireballs, they come in handy both offensive and defensive.

I must say, that my N64 style was really different (not only because of the differences of the old game and the new).
I use the Powershielding offline too and very often. So far :3
You only have to know, when the traction is useful, more not.
Perhaps my enemys were always one type, where I didn't need another style, but that's not the matter of this thread :3

Well, I agree with you. It's only the thing to change the style between the matches or directly in the matches. I think Luigi is really variable and his defensive powers will underestimated.
But not only the Fireball is a Multitalent, the tornado too.

Question: Do you like to gimp directly with Luigis Spike? I only use it for Combos, but not for Gimping. Personally I think that Luigi isn't a good Gimper, respectively not against many other characters.

I do both, but use it as a combo more than as a means to spike offstage. I use it when the situation arises, or I bait fireballs and force said situation to arise. Some characters, like Mario, are too hard to spike because most of them recover low to sweet spot the edge with UpB, and it takes very good timing to spike them out of that. Besides, in that case, it is much easier to just jump offstage and do a rising tornado to gimp.

Offstage I try to use the fireball. If the enemy is hit by the fireball when I'm almost next to him, it's easier for me to time the spike. otherwise another gimp would be useful.

Apart from that I think the tornado is a fast gimper, but it isn't really useful or strong. perhaps my memory fails. if yes, than punish me ^^"

My favourite gimper is the dair (without spike) or the bair. The bair is quick and able to perform a wall of pain.
The Fireball is good for gimps against a falco who uses his SideB to recovery on the stage (also not to the edge). the fireball easily stops the recovery. It's the same with Jiggs.
Fireball for Top Projectile!
