After announcing Meta Knight, Sakurai will reveal that Fox has been removed from the game in order to allow for Meta Knight to have his time to shine again, and then win the tournament himself by OHKO'ing people with MK. :awesome:

On a serious note though, placing my bets on Mega Man.

Marth. Marth Marth Marth Marth.
In a comp. battle, Marth will basically always have the upper hand against Mac if zoned correctly.

Same reasons he'll be popular on wi-fi for the first handful of months.

  • Super armor/high priority moves
  • High speed moves
  • OHKO move no-one will know how to dodge
  • Fast on the ground
  • Invincibility frames clear on some specials
I probably should've mentioned that Little Mac has the best odds out of all the potential newcomers that'll likely be available. Depending on who actually gets invited to this thing, since we have no idea who it's going to be yet, it's probably going to be a ton of Fox's and Marth's running around. Unless the go-to picks have been nerfed something fierce and people realize it quickly, that's likely going to go to one of them by default. Otherwise, I'd say Little Mac has the strongest chances of winning.

Pretty solidly, though once people figure out how to counter him he'll be about higher middle tier after a year or two in high. The OHKO move is actually pretty easy to avoid with some practice.

I'd think that you'd be more interested in asking how I got my time machine, but you only get one.

  • Super armor/high priority moves Super armor on some, who says they're all high priority though without trying it yourselves? Did you all think Metaknight was OP before you got to play him?

  • High speed moves So does Sonic and Pikachu

  • OHKO move no-one will know how to dodge How do I jump up?

  • Fast on the ground So is/was Fox, and Falcon, and Sonic, and Pikachu

  • Invincibility frames clear on some specials Wat? give me some source on this so I can refute it.

I feel as though Little Mac will probably be one of the most used Newcomers; he seems like your typical rush-down characters, those tend to do well.

I just copy and pasted what he said for comedic effect; those weren't my words...

Pretty much my sentiments. He'll fit in well with the guys that use Marth and Fox.

Hey, cool, we found the one person in the world that hasn't seen Little Mac's reveal trailer.

Mac clearly goes through Megaman's charged buster attack. I'd say that's invincibility frames. At the very least, that's some crazy hyper armor.

I think it's very possible that we see an unannounced character tear it up in the tourney.

I thought Little Mac looked a bit OP, seeing what he's got going for him... but at the same time I feel that professional players would easily find a way to exploit his weaknesses in aerial combat and recovery. Not really big on analysis, but Greninja seems up for the task of taking out Mac. I'd think the mind games between that match up would be pretty crazy if taken to a high level.

Hah yeah **** you too. You're essentially saying "Little Mac is good because his trailer makes him look good"

As if a damn trailer is going to make a newcomer look bad.
I'm only teasing. No need to get upset. I still love you.

And I'm saying Little Mac looks good 'cause his side special has FRIGGIN' INVINCIBILITY FRAMES. He's got a lot of potential. I was only using the trailer as evidence 'cause you WANTED evidence. <3

Until we actually get our hands on the game you can't really say things like "yeah mac is gonna top this" or whatevs.

Besides, Squirtles side B has invincibility frames in Brawl.

Going to say that Little Mac has a huge chance of being one of the most played characters at the tournament. From what I've heard on live streams and tournaments for Melee, Brawl, and PM a lot of the skilled players are looking to test him out. Rush down characters like him are usually favorable. I still strongly believe Wii Fit Trainer might be the character to look out for in the tournament.

Do you guys believe that nintendo will allow people to pick whatever character they want?

In order to promote, I feel like all players will be asked to pick characters different from one another, with maybe max 1 mirror per character.

So yeah...can't have like 5 little macs or 6 wii fit trainers or 6 marths be playing.

I would love if M2k played Metaknight (then revelead) in E3... Pure epicness.
But he probably would prefer Marth at begining because Marth... (has that impossible-to-be-bad moveset).

That's a good point. Of course everyone is going to want to play as newcomers or characters that have been well-known to be good in past games. I highly doubt we'll see anyone pick Bowser, Mario, or Donkey Kong on purpose. Rosalina also looks to have a high learning curve, so it's doubtable that she'd be picked.

I would love it if variety were forced just so that we can see a lot of different characters in action, but if the players don't get to choose their character it wouldn't be too fair for the players who get stuck with bad match-ups.

If one of the people playing are smart, they'll choose Little Mac. Not because he's OP, but because nobody will have the time to learn the matchup. Little Mac looks and sounds a lot like Ike in that regard, if you don't know the matchup properly you're going to be cloppered, but once you know how to handle the character he becomes a ton easier. I don't think Little Mac will be all that great in competitive play because of this, but for a first-time tourney like this he's at his absolute best. Remember that it's a lot easier to quickly learn how to play a character than it is to learn how to play against a character.

I hear M2K is a huge Megaman fan, so I think we'll definitely see him being used.

Assuming people are playing the game fairly blind, Little Mac will cheese his way to victory. Do basic attacks that have super armour and one-hit kills. I doubt many will be ready for more practice-intensive things like gimping or controlling Rosalina and Luma properly

Little Mac or Rosalina. They both seem to be really good in the hands of a good player.
