Waveland, wavedash, waveshine 99.9999999999% of the time everytime. Really, you'll be fast. I guarantee it.

Make sure you dont gimp yourself on the distance, you want to have long wavedash/land/shines for the combo-ability they give you.

Lol. Your first line is impossible because we humans simply make errors all the time. But I knew what you meant. =p

Anyway, DI is something that comes natural actually. I was doing it before I even knew what it was called. lol All you can do is remember to hold away/towards your opponent depending on the attack. There is nothing much to it, really. For example, if a Falcon knees you its best to DI (hold the analog stick up) up. The reason is because the knee sends you in a horizontal path. So by holding up you slow down that horizontal path and you live. That's one out of many scenarios.

Learn how to control your movement and whatever so you're doing it in relation to the opponent and not just arbitrarily dash dancing around stupidly. This will preserve many stocks because you will be grabbed less.

Lol. Have you been spying on my Fox? Excessive DDing is one of my problems.

This, good sir, is known by us in the smash community as dash-dance camping.

imo its best used as Falcon and Marth. Unfortunately for your opponents, Fox has gayer things than his grab. Running and kicking their head in yields the best results. Just ask PC Chris.

"PC Chris style" : aggro combo aggro think aggro smart aggro edge-guard...

its basically lots attacking combined with about 95% edge-guarding and an amazing thinking game. lulz

so just being stupid in general
?
A lot of new (and not-so-new) Foxes dash dance and laser independently of the opponent's relative positioning to them. And, scarily enough, independently of their own positioning (ie. laser camping when they're at the edge and the opponent is creeping up on them, nicely spaced).

This often makes them get grabbed and die fast. Or pushed off the stage into gimps.

You should not be moving on your own because you think it looks cool. You should be either doing it to put pressure on them or keep yourself adequately spaced (or both). Fox's spacing is somewhat awkward comparative to Sheik or Marth but you still need to know how to do it. Knowing how to keep yourself moving around the stage and not run out of space to dash dance, wavedash, waveshield, and position yourself for counterattack is a useful skill. In fact, it should be one of the first things people learn in this game but people think doing 16 JC shines into laser variations, complete with fancy wavelanding, is more useful. I haven't quite figured out why, though.

Ok so you reminded me I had some in my fridge. So I open the door and its not there...apparently you know were I live. You could have at least played me for it. =P :chuckle:
But stealing is more fun.

imo grab game is important, i'd think about DD'ing well and making sure i know what to do after grab....whether its a straight answer(like on FD and u up throw marf on high percent and he doesnt DI) or knowing that u have options and mixing them up.(like on yoshi's and u up throw CF on a platform at a low percent)
