I am so ****ing pumped by this like I can't even express my excitement. You can tell by my username that I absolutely love this series and I've accepted that I will never play a game similar to the metroidvania games ever since I laid hands on the Mirror of Fate demo on the 3DS (and I wish I hadn't, literally the worst game I've played no exaggeration), AND THEN THIS ****ING HAPPENS. HOLY ****.

I AM SO HYPED AND I DON'T GIVE A **** IF HAYTER'S DOING VOICE ACTING, I DON'T EVEN CARE ABOUT VOICE ACTING. metroidvania <3

and nah, the 3D titles really aren't /that/ bad (the PS2 ones; Lords of Shadow wasn't bad at all as a game but it went too far away from the Castlevania 'culture' that it really should've been called something else), but yeah, the metroidvania games were so good and didn't need a transition to 3D. On the other hand, I believe Dark Souls pretty much nailed the 3D Castlevania setting.

I'll agree that Curse of Darkness, Lament of Innocence and Lords of Shadow were god awful, just kinda forgettable and mediocre. Honestly, I would have dismissed LoS as just another bad 3D Casltevania but the fact that Konami has spent the last five years shoving it down our throats as the new Castlevania is was really draws my ire. Really, they crossed the line when they tried to adapt LoS game play to a 2D environment and passing off a few side areas as "Metroidvania."

Now the kickstarter-funded project, Bloodstained, has reached over 2 million

I used have a somewhat negative opinion on kickstarter and the whole crowd funding scene at large, but now that we're seeing talented developers using it to make the games that most publishers would never green light in a million years. Now that we're seeing games like Bloodstained and Yooka-Laylee getting made I'm convinced kickstarter is capable of producing so many more games than the usual 8/16-bit nostalgiabait platformer that flooded the indie scene for years.

Maybe one day we'll see the original Team Silent get back together to kickstart Silent Hill V in all but name, or maybe Kojima can finally start working on the games he's always wanted to make now that he's not chained to Metal Gear anymore.

Yes...YES...YESH!!! I love Castlevania! :D Espically the Metroid-vania ones! I was really sad that there hasn't been a Castlevania game like the original Castlevania or Symphony of the Night for a while. I think the last one we got was The Adventure: Rebirth :/
But holy ballz, I am hyped for this. Man, first Mighty No. 9, then Yooka-Laylee, now Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night! It's good to be alive and well in this world :D

CONFIRMED!!!!

Wii U Stretch Goal REACHED!!!

Now now... Let's hold off on asking Iga to include MIriam in Smash Bros 5 until the game is actually released
no. If anyone deserves to be in Sm5sh (or Sm4sh, ballot hype) it's definitely Simon Belmont. Every other Castlevania character is irrelevant and this is coming off a guy who's favourite handheld game is Dawn of Sorrow and with Arikado (a character from that game) as his username.

Looking at Konami's situation now, I highly doubt we'll see any of their characters in Smash 4 (and possibly future installments). Miriam in Smash 5 is the next best thing.

Looks like the game's off to a nice start. This video of Iga playing was a lot more insightful compared to Inafune playing the alpha of Might No. 9.
Hearing his opinions on what should be changed kinda allowed you to see that director role. Same with hearing how much programmers contribute to the stage visuals.
