So here's a fun thread. I felt like making this based on all the DLC wishlist threads and such. It also combines another idea if the reader could pick the unlockables. If you could pick out the roster for an upcoming Smash Bros. game, who would be in it? Would anyone from Smash 4 be cut? Reasonings and explanations are welcome!!
A few small restrictions to make sure this doesn't get haywire?
-No more than 70 characters. I feel this limit is more than enough to fit as many newcomers as you can push in.
-No more than 2 newcomers to a series. This is simply to avoid oversaturation of a series with representatives.
-You can cut up to 5 characters off the Smash 4 roster. Don't want 'em in your hypothetical roster? Get rid of 'em!
-You can have up to 5 third party characters. Wanna bring back Snake? Think Rayman deserves a home in Smash? Throw 'em in!
-Mii Fighters can count either as 1 slot together or 1 fighter per archetype, your choice
Also you can list which are unlockable, and which are starters! Heck, if you wanted some of them as DLC, you can list those as such too.

Reasoning for certain choices...
Lucina cut: I feel that Roy would replace her as a fighter. This is mostly because it helps to represent the whole of the Fire Emblem series a bit better, as Awakening already has Robin, a far more unique fighter. As much as Lucina is liked, I would rather her cut in order to allow Roy to return both to allow a decent amount of Fire Emblem reps that also give a varied representation of the series.
Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, Lucas, Roy, Wolf: All of them have potential as returning characters. Several changes could be made to most of them to give them some more uniqueness amongs the characters they are clones of.
I took a bit of a minimalistic approach to adding newcomers. I wanted to focus more on rounding out the roster while adding a few choices that would surprise the average player.
Pretty much here is a list of 120 smash bros characters. Pretty much, all smash bros characters are in it. However you can also add characters in (your suggestions) to add more until there is 120.

Only TWO more third-partys can be added to the list. We can't go crazy with that.
You can vote for people to be alternate coustumes (They will be put in paranthrsauses like this)

All I got on what characters I see making it on the roster someday.
I know third party space is limited but I'd say that Quote from Cave Story be one of the two extra slots. Considering he's the protagonist of arguably the most well-known indie game of all time unless you count Minecraft which isn't really indie anymore. It especially works since the game was designed with 8-bit in mind and was inspired by some of Nintendo's classics, such as Metroid. Plus, it's been officially brought to three separate Nintendo systems: the DSi, the Wii in the form of WiiWare, and the 3DS twice. He could even have an alt in the form of Curly Brace, which would not only help fill costume slots but also add some more female representation into Smash. The world of Cave Story would be a great fit to add to Smash, with tons of potential for enemies, assists and trophies. His moveset is already incredibly diverse with almost a dozen weapons to use. He could even have a weapon switch system similar to Pokemon Trainer's stamina, where after taking damage the weapon you're holding gets weaker. So many options!
-Mario (and yoshi) has pretty much everyone, if anything add Toad with most of his moveset based on Cpt Toad and Toadette as alt.;
-Wario needs 2 reps, one from Wario Ware (Ashley or someone else) and one from Wario Land (Syrup);
-DK needs Dixie and maybe K.Rool;
-Pokèmon, I would bring the Pokèmon Trainer back, charizard alone feels like he is missing something, and obvious new gen rep.;
-Kirby needs Adeleine with an Elline costume as alt. palette, and maybe Bandana Dee and/or Chef Kawasaki;
-Zelda is missing Classic Ganon so bad, and Ganondorf needs a new moveset. Tetra and/or Tingle maybe, also;
-F-Zero needs Black Shadow with Ganondorf's old moveset and some new moves replaced to make him more unique;
-Starfox needs Krystal, and maybe a return of Wolf;
-Metroid I don't know, there is the Ridley thing, but I really don't know what to think about him;
-Animal Crossing may have some newcomers, Isabelle, K.K. Slider and/or Tom Nook;
-Ice Climbers need to return.
New series:
Rhythm Heaven needs a rep, possibly Karate Joe;
Splatoon needs a rep, Inkling;
Everything else, I don't know or simply I don't care.
(Personally I'd add Jill from Drill Dozer but she's from a very minor game unfortunatelly).

this cameo was made in 2003 we are not in that year now. he is now owned by alphadream and they are planning to bring him back http://m.ign.com/articles/2013/08/13/where-mario-luigi-dream-team-and-super-mario-rpg-collide IGN interviewed a couple of Alphadream execs who helped make Mario & Luigi: Dream Team who elaborated on the proper way to go about giving Geno and Mallow minor roles in future RPG games.

there is a guy who sended a massage to square enix asking them to use Geno and mallow again or giving them to nintendo but square enix said to him "we have nothing to do with SMRPG characters you should contact to nintendo for them"

In 2016 it's going to be the 20th year of smrpg they really need to do something for geno and I am sure they know a lot of people wants him back. they don't want to say "We will" because they don't want to spoil something in their next game so they said "we're looking into it" instead
I want Geno back too, but for now it's very unlikely that he'll be in smash. I'm fine with the small roles they said they're looking for, at least the character won't be totally forgotten, he (and Mallow too) doesn't deserve it.
On the other hand, since they put in the game the Rayman trophy, and Geno was one of the most requested characters the last time, they could have at least made a trophy of him...
maybe. or the guy who returned that email doesn't know/care.
No one is going to say in an email to some random person they no longer have the rights to someone.
The intern who replies to emails may have just been told to pass the blame so they stop getting unnecessary emails. If square lost the rights to Geno more than 2 people would know about it.
I would add Ridley, but I'm pretty much agreement with Sakurai's reason for Ridley not being in.
And I'm waiting for K. Rool to become a prominent DK character again in a new DK game to add him in there.
