When my opponent shields my DB what is the best thing to do to minimise punishment? Should I jsut stop with the first strike or go up to the forth? I found my Marth get incredibly vulerable when the DB gets shielded :urg:

If they perfect shield? Do whatever it takes to gtfo.

Otherwise depending on how close you are to the opponent on the first strike and how much (if any) of their shield is already diminished...

Usually, if my opponent shields my DB, I'd just finish it off and end the last one with a down DB, as the multiple hits can sometimes eat through the shield, causing it to hit them regardless. Also, if you mix it up with other finishes, and rarely use the down DB, they wont expect it and might let up on their shield in the midst of the multiple stabs. I've seen it happen. :awe:

it depends on the status of their shield. if its basically a full shield, I do what I can to escape the situation after first hit. maybe a quick roll back or spot dodge. its hard to not got punished really. if their shield is weak i'll just finish the combo, and see what happens

You can up-B or counter as well. Up-B covers grab attempts if you're well spaced, counter covers physical.

I prefer to play it safe and simply go for the third downb to respace myself if I think there's a chance of getting punished for it...unless their shield is small.

The best thing to do for me is to satll after the third hit. You can wait a second before actually doing the whole thing and any part of the BB combo. I'd stall if your DB is blocked!

I never did this but it happened to me once. The marth did the first hit of db and i shielded then he grabbed me. I was suprised so that works too if you think your opponent will shield db everytime.

ugh, I hate it when that happens. Dolphin Slash is the only thing that comes to mind as the quickest way to try to defend yourself, but I'd doubt it. you'd have to realize the opponent blocked early into the match to be able to stop at the first or second slash or something.

End it on the third hit, making it a down b. This is quick and it moves you back a little bit. Do not keep it going unless they have a small shield, as you will get punished. It really depends on the situation, actually.
