Mario: Hatless Variants, F.L.U.D-equipped variant, and an ice-mario skin. Also, Punch-Out!!! Referee variant.

Luigi: Poltergyst 3000 Variant, hatless variants, and a Cosmic Luigi skin.

Robin: Variant with their hood up over their face, Grandmaster variant (I don't really like the Grandmaster appearance, but it feels noteworthy.)

Ike: Chrom Alternate Skin, Ranger alternate skin (For those not FE savy, that's just what he wore in Brawl. But keep the muscles, or we'll have hitbox problems.)

Peach: Daisy Alternate Skin, 'nough said.

Yoshi: Give the Dinosaur Dragon Thing a hat! Jeez... Perhaps a variant where he wears Mario's hat, Luigi's hat, and Wario's hat. (Mario 64 For The Win)

Sonic: Variant with a Tails plush toy backpack.

Shulk: Purple Vest Variant, as well as a variant with goggles on his head. Also, give the kid some more headwear from his game, like maybe a circlet.

Zelda: It needn't be said that she should definitely have alts based on the various incarnations of her (Sans Tetra for obvious reasons.). Also, give her a variant where she wears Link's hat. [Insert Lenny Face Here]

Darker clothes because she'd need something to stick out from the default. I thought of the stuffed chest because she does seem to be stuffing her chest in Awakening's art, to me. It would also make sense, to maybe make her look more "manly" in a way.

TL;DR
Classic DK wouldn't make a very good pallet swap because he looks worse than what our DK looks like now. Before you go blabbering to me about Classic Mario, he's a completley different Mario. In fact there's a theory on two seperate Mario. Classic Mario still looks like Mario, but wears a BLUE SHIRT and RED OVERALS instead of RED SHIRT and BLUE OVERALS, like our Mario does. And last time Nintendo ever animated that style of Mario was in the Super Mario Bros Super Show (one of the animated cartoon series for Mario Bros), and it SUCKED. As if Mario AND Bowser's characteristics weren't bad enough, Mario looked quite crappy. I don't need classic Mario appearance to come back in this game and haunt me on how bad his cartoons were.

Oh, and I'm STILL kinda freaked out on how Bowser looked...

I thought he didn't have a purple color when the game came out until I realized that his cape was purple on this alt. I honestly just thought it was a "black" alt.

- Vanguard armor from Radiant Dawn, or Lord outfit from Path of Radiance. They just look classier than his Ranger and Hero outfits, and I was always a bit confused as to why they only ever used his starting outfits for both games.

- Said several times by now but GOD YES Hyrule Warriors Ganondorf would be fabulous, in both senses of the word.

- I would've loved for every player to have one free slot for these characters, with their choice of custom color and hairstyle, corresponding to the same choices from their games. I'd totally be rocking my purple haired twin-braids Corrin.

- X armor. 'Nuff said.

I actually want to see a retro mode for each character.
Every character would have an alt that would depict them as if they were in Smash 64, including characters introduced after the 64 era (like Ike and Shulk for example). This would also go for alts like female Corrin and wireframe Mac. As for Cloud, he would look like how he does on the overworld in FF7.

cloud really needed more colors! A lot more colors. His pallette is ridiculous, everything but the red looks exactly the same in my eyes. Unless you're fighting cloud dittos, then you can see some nuances. He should have a good yellow jacket with black hair or something like that. I don't know what square allowed, but he should be less edgy, more colorfull
