Falco in Melee is the most dominant character in all of fighting games. This unstoppable force has made grown men cry and ladies faint; animals cower and demons emerge; and Sakurai to weaken him in Brawl.

But in all seriousness, has anyone else noticed that Falco is not even fair? Even without the short-hop laser spamming, his moves linked very well, and far outclassed the competition.

Also, what is your favorite Falco attack? My 1st choice is the D-air Meteor Smash, and the second is a single laser; used simply to irritate the opponent. :p

Now, I am slightly disappointed at Falco's new F-smash, and especially his neutral air (I do not like the sound of "Nair", it sounds like a sort of hair-removal application), but I think that it is hilarious to hit someone with the reflector and make them sit a "time out" for a moment. Especially doing it repeatedly.

Do you here on this site agree, or is it just me that thinks in this manner? I am curious...

SHL to dash attack to ******** combo to back airs. (******** combo is what I'm calling a combo of only up-tilts.)

The D-air is a spike, not a meteor smash (makes it so much better :)).

As for my favorite move: shine and its shine combos (flashy and deadly). My second favorites are his dair and lasers (I like them about the same).

As good as a Starman

I have never actually heard the term "Spike" before, but I am guessing that it is something to do with smashing straight down. Recently, I have even gone so far as to warn opponents not to attempt to jump after grabbing the ledge, but many do not listen and face the wrath of the drill-kick.

Shining is decent, though I do not use it as often as some of the other other moves, because of the lack of distance. I do however like the high priority, and, although I am not positive, believe that it may have one of the highest if not the highest.

Adding in a reflect here and there makes it even better. Falco is as good as a Starman; invincible; unbeatable.

I like yelling the ******** combo when I do it though. I find shines send 'em a lil' too far up, when up-tilts set up better for more uptilts or shffl bair or full jump bair.

The Shine is mostly useful because of the combo potential and the fact that the hit box comes out on frame 1 of the animation. Learn to use it well.

Falco is broken onstage, but he has one of the worst recoveries in the game. Marth eats him off the stage, and Fox gimps him almost as efficiently.

You want to talk about broken characters? Magneto in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. Thats like Falco with Fox's recovery/quickness, Falcon's footspeed, Marth's floatiness AND SWORD...

don't forget needles. He has to have needles to be broken.

That is why he has two recoveries: so long as he is not too far away from the stage. But Falco needs no recovery: he does not get hit off often enough.

this thread is so epic lol.

speaking of the shine, i'm still surprised at the lack of shining (as falco, but it actually helps fox somewhat as well) when people are knocked off the stage.. i picked this up years ago after watching a vid of lambchops doing it. after you get knocked far out, instead of DJ right away shine to stop your momentum then DJ (you will get the full horizontal distance of the jump this way as part of it won't be used to cancel your outward momentum), then phantasm or firebird. i'm not saying it should be done all the time, but it def. helps you recover from situations where you could never make it without the shine.

I picked up the technique in the same way: watching the finals (I do not remember which year). It works best when a character is following your movements and is about to land an attack. It has helped me quite often.

Favorite Falco attack has to be the Dair. Love to annoy with those lasers, but Dair for the kill is always followed by an expletive from a spectator, or even your opponent. Yes, Fox gimps Falco REALLY easily. Nothing is like a shinespike in mid Firebird." Wyyaa(click)!" In case I don't make it during the charging frames.

The Firebird is an almost useless recovery. However, I have used it quite well on-stage as a deception move. Nothing beats Dair.

Firebird is the ultimate fail recovery. So easily edgeguarded. His side-b mixes it up pretty well though.

A good Falco is ****, but I still have to say Marth is better. Sword, sword, sword. Watch M2K vs Shiz to see.

Falco's far less broken than you make him out to be.

Falco is far from broken lol, his recovery sucks hard. Against Marth you will almost always lose offstage. It sort of evens him out I believe. If Falco had Fox's recovery then he would be broken.

I disagree with Falco being broken. If his recovery was good then perhaps. If you are facing a competent opponent who can edgeguard decently Falco is pretty much dead once he goes flying off.

I'm not gonna sit here explaining how falco is "not broken" but.. you really should just stop complaining about things, especially falco cause he's amazing =]

I used to hate Falco. Mainly because of the whole "Fox or Falco" issue. Now, I play both.

I cannot use Fox to be honest. The differences are quite different in my eyes, specifically the jump height and fall speed. Fox almost seems to be metal. And has a low first jump. His lasers also do not have the stunning effect, and since I generally shoot a single laser solely for that purpose, I like Falco much more.
