I see all these new Characters, but how do we unlock them? Details inside

So we have all these new characters, i watched half of them unlock.
but I'm not sure if its the amount of games beaten in classic mode, or who you beat the mode with.
I just want to unlock duck hunt x bowler jr first.

I believe you unlock Bowser Jr. by beating the game with Bowser on a higher difficulty setting. The streamer played on 7.0 difficulty.

wow only 120? That's so tiny compared to some of the past requirements. Still it's nice to know I can unlock everything relatively quickly on launch day and not have to worry, and instead focus on being the a good TO.

The Wii U version will have harder unlock methods.

I hope it does, but at the same time I also hope it keeps the low level of Vs matches. As a tournament organizer I take it upon myself to get everything unlocked as soon as possible to provide the best tournament experience I can. I did it with Brawl back in junior high, and I'll do it with smash 4 in college.

I just finished watching Gema's stream where he unlocked every character and yes, you unlock ROB by playing 70 vs matches. Sadly, ROB is the last unlockable character.

I'm glad I'll be able to just grind my way to every character in 20 minutes or so. You can just keep SDing yourself in 1 stock matches with bots.

I know from watching Hamayama he got Lucina by beating classic with either just Marth, or Ike Robin and Marth.

Reason I'm saying this is cause he played classic with Marth LAST out of those 3. So you could just get her by just playing as Marth. But that's how he did it.

You forgot about Wolf, Mewtwo, K. Rool, and Ridley! Here's how you unlock them:

Wolf: Pirate the game.

Mewtwo: Mod the game.

K. Rool: Create and program him into the game.

Ridley: Feed your tears, blood, and flesh to the game.

Enjoy.

Oh and if you want Snake, you'll have to cut off one of your arms and since that wouldn't be ideal for playing SSB4 or games in general, Snake will be a character for the hardcore. As for Lucas: give your game some 'shrooms.

@ Donkey_Inferno I saw in another stream someone unlock Lucina without using Marth so I believe it's the number of characters you play in that mode that unlocks her, unlike the other clone characters (Dr Mario/ Ganondorf)

Was there ever any confirmation characters can't be unlocked through versus? Hmm, y'know, it'd be cool if Smash Run had update characters you can unlock. It'd be a nice callback on Wolf being unlocked in Subspace Emissary.

Am I the only one who thinks these unlock methods are a little easy and disappointing? I could 100% unlock all the characters in about two hours. There aren't any real challenging unlocks. Plus, these simply seem to be "Beat Classic Mode with ______". Where's the motivation to play the other modes?

For example, in Melee, you had to beat 100-Man Melee to unlock Falco. If I never had to beat 100-Man to unlock him, I wouldn't touch it, ever. I guess unlocking characters isn't a huge part of the give this time around, I guess.

There have been multiple ways of unlocking almost every character before, so I image it'll be the same with Smash 4. Like Falco, you could unlock him in Melee by playing 300 vs. matches.


Also: I think DHD challenges you after doing classic mode 10 times. Happened to multiple streamers

Lucina is unlocked by clearing Classic Mode wirth Marth. Not sure on the specifics (difficulty) or if you need to have unlocked Falco/Ness/Dark Pit beforehand, but I'm sure that beating the mode with Marth is one of the per-requisites.
