I never did like Falco...now I hate him more.

So can someone tell me how a Snake gets around Falco. I made it to the finals of this tournament at GameStop only to be crushed by a chain-grabbing Falco. I tried playing the defensive style but on Final Destination it didn't work that way. This guy was pretty fearless if I tossed a nade he'd toss it back at me. He wouldn't let me cook then either as Falco's Blasters are consistently annoying Falco's F-Smash also kept wreaking havoc on my game play in close quarters. My F-Tilts were the only reason I could kill him up close. I wanted to know if there were some tricks to get around those obstacles. Thanks for any good advice in advance.

1 shield drop another nade so the first one falls in its tracks.

2 you can try crawling under the lazors.

3 try to shield and spotdoge more.

also a nikita can get thru the lazors pretty well.

if you need anu more help theres a matchup guide somewhere.

always keep a medium or (if you have to) long distance from him. he's superior up close. (ftilt, you say? well I've got this here shieldgrab to cg to spike for you) and therefore you should never ever approach. snake's really vulnerable to cgs so make never getting grabbed priority number one in this match-up.

always keep grenades out. if he's shling you from long range he'll have to shoot differently or he'll hit himself with the explosion from the nades. if he's in medium range he'll most likely try to approach and that's when it's the easiest to cook them nades (imo at least.) if he's in close range you need to carry a nade (to prevent cgs) and throw it when it's about to explode or simply be creative and hit falco with it.

edgeguarding the bird is pretty easy. if he's coming in from below he's gonna firebird so depending on the situation you can edgehog or spike him. if he's coming in from above you just shoot some mortars to hit him with. if he's coming in from the side he'll either aim for the edge or fly over you with firefox in which case you'll have to make up your own crazy way of dealing with. if he's using phanthom you know where he's gonna be and you'll mostly get a kill (either that or I play crappy falco players lol.)

I've probably forgotten something now or I haven't said anything that's right lol.

well when i play against someone that can shoot lasers i.e. falco, i usually start the game by going in the prone position and crawling up to them looking for a d-tilt. when i'm far away i just dodge my way up to him and use f-tilts or the neutral A combo. also mortar slide... duh. shield grabbing is always fun (with any character, not just snake) obviously you probably know everything im telling you since you got to the finals.. but yeah chain grabs are annoying. spot dodge f-tilt ftw

Well yeah when I first started in a Falco match my first priority is "Don't get chaingrabbed". So I usually stay proned in anticipation of Blaster fire until they move up close. The problem there is that on a stage like Final Destination keeping the bird off me is a problem. I set Grenades on the ground next to C4 to deter a head on approach. What normally happens is they start using an aerial approach. Mortars don't always work they just Dair right through them. I usually only find an immediate opening in good Falcos when they are just landing. Thats when I Mortarslide and it works for a bit but once they gain their composure its back to me trying to run. I do realize though that trying to approach a Falco doesnt work. U-Tilt didnt even help me in this match up. The other issue is when they get the chance most Falcos like to Phantasm as a way to keep me in their face. And even when I do see it I gotta deal with that annoying F-Smash. Its like that move ignores my shield half the time and rolling behind it doesn't do anything. Dodging seems to be the only way around it. Also how do you get a Falco thats alreadyin your face off of you? I've tried cooking Nades and then dodging them at the last second but Blasters make me drop the Grenades] as well. It seems like Falco has everything he needs to gimp Snake. =/

Oh and I guess the guide that was linked was pretty helpful. The only thing I need to figure out is really how to deal with a Falco on Smashville and FD. I'm trying to get over my nightmare matchups.

Dropping the Grenade with Shield and grabbing it quickly is the best way to cook the grenades and crawl through his lasers for some CQC.

i use snake for fun and you can crawl under the laser spam lol. and then dtilt. i think dtilt is one of the most underrated of snake moves. when utilt is fatigued, dtilt is your answer. ive NEVER seen any snake use dtilt :\

crawl back and mortar slide when he gets near. This may take some practice to do, though. And as you said, he can dair through the mortar, but mortar edgeguard is not your best choise. Of course, you can shoot one in the air high, to force him to dair and try to punish, but only use this as a mix up. If he is recovering with illusion, I leave a grenade on stage and hug the ledge or nair at the ledges level. If you can catch falco off illusion with a nair offstage, he is finished. You can also try to spike him out of illusion with fair. It's wayyy hard to do, but looks awesome when happens.
