Congratulations!

I remember when I first got glasses (didn't get contacts until years later) and I was stumbling out of the optical place because I wasn't used to seeing things clearly. It made me dizzy. I was staring at the ground trying to see as little as possible and make sure my feet were landing where I wanted them to.

And then, the next day at school, I realized my teacher had a face and she wrote sentences on the board for me to copy down. And I became an honor student. *cue ascending inspirational orchestral music*

Welcome to the world of the sighted.

I've had glasses for 5 years now. When I first got them, I felt that everything rammed itself in front of my eyes so clearly.

I've never really thought about getting contacts, glasses just seem easier.

I wear contacts, but I'm going to get Lasik or whatever once I'm 18, not that it's so much of a hassle or anything- I just worry about eye infection from not washing my hands sometimes. And yeah, I was like 8 when I first got glasses, and I was AMAZED at how clear things were. Your eyes definetly do get worse from glasses/contacts though. My prescription dropped from a 2.75 at first to a 5.5 now. or -5.5 I forget.

Glasses/contacts don't make your eyes worse. Rather, it's a result of growth and aging. Once you hit a certain age (usually sometime in your early to mid-20s, though it does depend on the individual), your eyes will stabilize and your diopter (prescription) stops getting much bigger or smaller. Lots of TV/screen-watching or lots of reading do strain your eyes though.

Anyway, glasses (or contacts if you wear them) are amazing. You go through life thinking everything is perfectly normal. Then you get your new lenses and ask yourself how you got by without them.

I once thought the same thing. And you're kind of right. Glasses are easier, which is why I wear them on days that I'm not really doing anything (I'm wearing them now).

But now that I've gotten used to seeing myself without glasses again, it's kind of tough to go back.

To this day, whenever I take out my contacts... I couldn't imagine life without them. I'd be practically blind without these lenses.

I know that my eyes aren't as good as they can be, but like, I don't want to get glasses. Ignorance is bliss, right? :)
