Ok so I live in GA and I attend USGaming/Waba w.e it's called monthlies. Recently I've taken a big break from brawl both online and offline because of Grad. stuff and getting my life together. So I returned to the community not too long ago and I've been having some fun online. Went to an offline tourney @ USGaming.Had the time of my life, mad fun.

but alright on to me being a noob. This time around we were having a NC,AL, and GA. [Or this time around for me that is lol] So we had a pretty nice turn out. Since the attendance was so nice we decided to take a vote on Pools. It was a majority win on pools. I even voted myself not knowing how pools even worked lol.

Soon as it was clear that we were doing pools I asked everyone sitting around me just wtf it was lol. I heard so many people talking to me @ once that I came up w/ my own theory of what Pools were. Theory: "I just gotta beat 3 of the six guys there in a set and I'm good. I keep going until I can do that before losing three times"

-_-

Man was I wrong.
Lol So I started the first match off with Player 3. He picked Marth and I thought why not havea Marth Ditto. We had a pretty fair match it ended w/ me SD'ing but I wasn't too upset about it. I picked MK on his Marth after that and won the entire set. The next match was vs. Loda. He played Luigi. He seemed a little off so I outplayed him fairly and took that set and so on and so on. I eventually got to the point i had won 3 sets. [Not in a row, but before I lost three times.] I actually kicked back thinking I was done. Then Serin made it clear to me that it wasn't about the sets I take. It was about the wins I get. And my very next opponent was Reflex "UGH!" I thought in my head as I would have to figure out a way to get past such a talented PT main. He ***** me. I was so impressed. I left the Pools feeling so stupid. If I hadn't thought so simple about the pools I could've made it in the brackets.

But I had a lot of fun @ USGaming and I can't wait till the next tourney to have more fun and enjoy myself.

but

maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan I suck lol

Good, this is exactly what you needed. A good **** will always make you think and help you realize wether you want to continue playing and become better, or if you want to quit.

For me, after being ***** at my first tournament in pools I realized I didn't want to play brawl and switched to melee. When I got rapedi n pools at my first Melee tournament, I realized I want to be better.

P.S. Even if you knew how pools worked, it wouldn't have worked out. The fact that you didn't get lose all matches already means you're better than me ;D

Yeah. I got owned at Brawl, and decided it was a casual thing for me. Melee is fun too, but I kinda felt the same way. I did take Pokemon pretty seriously though. (as serious as wifi can get, lol) Though until 5th gen comes out I'm done because the metagame gets turned upside down.

Well I think the Moral of this story is that if you treat the event like an outing you should do just fine no matter what you place. I can say I wanted to place higher but every tourney I go to I learn something new so I can't wait for the next time haha.

Reminds me of my last tourney experience. I did terribly in pools. It was my second tourney, so I don't mind losing. I just need more MU experience, which is why I decided to go wifi. Also, I've heard of and seen plenty of vids on Serin, haha.

I DO know who you are Serin. I got mah eye on you :)
