Scientifically speaking white people can swimbetter than black people, due to bone densities and weight ^_^

I've been swimming (on a club team) for about 6 years now, so it's pretty easy for me to float. I remember being unable to float at first, but it comes most naturally through practice.
Anyway, if you want to float on your back more easily, you could try to arch your chest up a little bit and suck in your stomach; also, try to keep your thighs a little higher than your stomach so that your legs don't sink. You could also try moving your arms slowly up and down (adjacent to the surface of the water) if you feel like you're starting to sink.

I don't know if that helps. It worked with me. :ohwell:

When I was a kid I sank like a rock. I was very skinny at that time, no fat, not much muscle. Now, although I've increased in muscle, (still not much fat) I can float. The key for me was using my abs to keep my legs up. As soon as they got up I was able to let them rest on the water by tilting my upper body the slightest bit downwards, keeping my face above water, and from that point it was "smooth sailing." But yeah, for me muscle actually helped out in the end.

Spread yourself out like Jesus on the cross. Keep your back arched. Don't turn your head or you'll sink.

Oh yeah, I float. Especially when I'm drunk j/k

Well, I've been on the swim team for about 3 years now. Mind you, I'm by no means a star, but I can at least swim laps a few hours without drowning.

I didn't read all of this, so it might already have been said. Just hold your breath, and your lungs will act as floatation devices and keep you on the service. When you exhale (i.e. your lungs are empty) that's when you start sinking. So keep your head clear, your lungs full, and you can float. I'm about 5'8" about 145ish pounds. I'm not skinny exactly, but I'm by no means fat or out of shape, so muscle can't have anything to do with it.

Six feet, two inches. One hundred seventy pounds. Nine percent body fat. I can float easy, I took swimming lessons when I was like 6, that really helped my ability and confidence in swimming.

Also, I can hold my breath for 3 minutes and 10 seconds.
