See, here's my problem...
I've been playing video games reguarly all my life - I'm 15 now. It use to be all that I'd do pretty much. Why? Same reason as you guys...they're so much fun! Well, that use to be the case...
I simply CAN'T enjoy video games anymore. Here's why though...I learnt about the competitive communties...here for the SSB series, TSC for all the Sonic games, ZSR for OoT, and most of all SDA - the Speed Demo's archive. I've been going through all of it, watching all of the awesome tricks everyone pulled off and the people holding the records seem like a god among gamers...
Everytime I play a game I don't enjoy them now. I immediately attempt to complete the level as fast as possible (like a time attack/speed run situation) or try to unlock everything asap etc rather than enjoying the game. It ruins it for me.
I completed three of my favourite games recently; Ocarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie, and Banjo Tooie. I hoped they would fill me with joy like they did in the past. For Ocarina of Time, I tried to kill every boss as fast as possible, for Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, I tried to simply finish the game as fast as possible. If I don't and just take my time, enjoying everything and the surroundings like I use to, I get frustrated and disappointed. I then have these thoughts in my head "You're crap at games, "Haha, you're way too slow" etc. It's really weird and unusal, but most of all it just leaves me feeling negative and usually switching the game off...
I tried taking a break from games and it hasn't helped. It's as if I'm trying to be one of those "gods" and own at every game I'm playing or something rather than enjoying the game...
I dunno what to do. I've tried picking up other hobbies for a while, but it's not really working. I want the thrill I use to have when playing games. It was awesome!
I don't know what to do.
I can't enjoy them...
