"Hype"-Character Only Ruleset

What if we were to use a ruleset where only the hype characters were allowed?
In this theoretical ruleset, a select group of characters would be permitted in tourney. The characters would be somehow chosen by the community and would most likely be subject to change if this ruleset was to be in effect. By doing so, matches will be more appealing for the spectators and players making it more fun and entertaining(which is the reason why a game is successful) as a game. By making the competitive environment more entertaining, the community would grow.

There wouldn't be alot actually. As far as I know, the following are considered hype in our current meta:

Well, then you'd have to come to an agreement on what makes a character "hype".

What makes a character "Hype" is purely subjective, and even if we were to magically agree on what's hype and what's not, I think we'd have gone far past the point of no return if we start banning characters simply for spectators enjoyment, it might end up being more fun for players who like the subjectively considered hype characters, but it'd completely drain the meaning of the game for most of us who don't like those characters more than the others and/or mained one of the banned characters.

If you think hype is limited to character choice then I'm afraid you're looking at video games wrong.

Character choice is totally not a factor when numerous characters' most successful gameplay revolves around camping and whatnot. A character commonly labled as lame such as sonic can definitely have hype gameplay but at a competitive level, their will be a general type of playstyle every character will follow.
