I don't understand why everybody wants this guy in.
I mean he hasn't been in any other games besides Mario sports or party games.
For people complaining about characters being a "wasted slot" this guy takes the cake.
I'll still play the hell out of him in Mario Tennis but that's about it.

Everything up until the Newcomers, I'm personally fine with. A lot of the Newcomers I'd legitimately enjoy, but there are some choices that I don't necessarily enjoy.

For starters, while I love Waluigi (he's such a stupid character that he's humorously and hopelessly charming), we don't need any more Mario characters. I love Mario, but unlike Pokemon, the cast isn't so fluid that it mandates any more than what we already have. DK characters, I love both Dixie and K. Rool, but I feel that a choice between the two would need to be made. Glad to see no Zelda and Kirby newcomers. They're fine where they are, too. Loving Ridley, as well. However, I'm not a fan of Krystal. Call if personal preference, but four SF characters is also too much.

If we're going to get five Pokemon characters, I'd prefer it be Lucario, over a second Trainer. Not only are the Kalos starters too brand-spanking new to really warrant that kind of attention, but two extra characters to program, on top of Red and his Pokemon...that has to be a pain, as well as three character slots that could be given to someone else. Chrom, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer are all solid choices (especially since two of the three are already confirmed). Little Mac, Isaac, and Dillon, also solid. However, Wonder Red should be swapped with someone who deserves it more - someone with an actual franchise, instead of a really new one-hit - say, Chibi Robo or Starfy. Mega Man's happening, whether I like it or not (I do, mind you). Pac-Man...I'm iffy.

Overall, I'd be satisfied with this list. I wouldn't be 100% content with every decision, should you have your complete way, as I was with Brawl's roster choices, but I have seen so much worse. As a matter of fact, swap Kalos Trainer, Wonder Red, Krystal, Pac-Man, and Waluigi out with more diverse or retro Nintendo characters and you've got an absolute winner, in my opinion.

Thank you for stating your opinion. I agree, it can be fixed a little bit & there's not a Kalos Trainer. The Kalos starters are for Red.

I really doubt pokemon trainer will get a new set of pokemon as his troop are 3 of the most requested pokemon rolled along with the protagonist of the series. Also Pokemon Origins made them relevant again along with the x and y starters being these three and the kalos starters being given alongside them.

I think it would depend on the design choices, i'm thinking they don't actually care about balancing at all, but if they did somewhat care(it would be the pretty logical choice from a marketing perspective to aim for a party game, that can function in a melee-esqe way, or even more competitive, while still being a party game) and if they did somewhat strike the balance between melee and brawl, i think a lot of the brawl characters would be obnoxious as can be.

Never really go into the brawl competitive scene(and only tipped my toes into melee's) but just from casual experience and a few VODs i've seen the zoning game, and ability that brawl characters bring to the table is obnoxious, and the recovery of like MK is absurd. I'd honestly rather not see him, or the more stupidly zone intensive people return. I'm not super familiar with all the brawl characters, but i believe diddie kong, and olimar can play the zoning game to silly porportions, and well MK is just MK..

idk i might be way off, on all my super opinionated balance and most likely it will basically be a second brawl-esqe game in which case i'd love to see protoman be in there somewhere and something like the glover guy.

Waluigi would be a wasted slot.
Personally, I can't see Ridley be playable.
Krystal would also feel wasted in my eyes.
I don't see the Kalos starters being on the roster as one character. That would ruin the uniqueness of Red in my opinion.
