How to stop the annoying flying character who always fly underneath platforms.

I found out my standard edge guard techniques were not affective against Pit. Flying pain the butt. I found out a new one, that even Pit cannot escape. It is risky, but I think it will be effective.

1. Grab onto the ledge.
2. Use the down special attack to drop. Only the downspecial will work. If you hold down first, Pikachu will suicide.
3. Recover.

Sorry if this technique was already posted.

simple answer. because of this my pit friend almost never attempts it. thundershock. if it hits, they have to use their wings. if you hit them again, bye bye pit.

More information.

If you slowly press down, Piakchu falls slower from the platform. If press down too quickly, Pikachu falls faster. It seems to be more reliable when you slowly press down to start the technique.

I thought this was common, and if you time it right, no need to QA to the ledge, you grab and the thunder hits above/on/under the edge, depending on the jump/timing

I learned about it in cruel brawl. I wa messing arounf, and i was like huh, will this work? just drop down below, jump then thunder, so that the thunder hits you when you are well below. then qa back up to lege, then drop before the invinicbility frames run out. I have gotten up to 19 with it. I generally fail cause i go to high or one of theem pushes the green/kriby one of and he stage spikes me.

auto grab thunder (from holding the ledge) is drop down, jump (how many times, once or twice?), thunder, then auto grab?
basically, you have to ledgehop (which is where you quickly press down(to fall off the stage) and then jump (to rise above the edge) then do a rising thunder, so press down special as you are jumping, then you should do the thunder animation above the stage (if barely), then you fall to the ledge...or if they try to ledgeguard you, you can up special to the stage :) This is good for people trying to recover below, the thunder (if you time it alittle below the stage, which will still grab on) usually stage spikes them. Good luck :)

This man speaks great truth. I killed my cocky friend's Jigglypuff doing this once. :D He's not doing that again anytime soon, he says.

you know pika can fly under stages too right?

(including FD)

2,300th post! w00t!
QFT, I've done it on all the stages that are floating (battlefield, Final destination, smashville, delfino plaza (parts of it), norfair, frigate orpheon, halberd, lylat cruise, jungle japes and brinstar) The ones I'm most proud of are corneria and the waiting area for Wi-fi, that long flat area with the sandbag. The one I haven't tried on is rainbow cruise and big blue, but don't worry I will!

I'm a Pit player, and this does not work against him. trust me on that. A good Pit player will expect it. Besides, most Pits will start by Gliding under the stage, then you use Wings of Icarus. and if you already on the far right you can get FAR out of range of Pika and back to the stage. WOI has a good 5 seconds fresh which is more than enough time to get back if you wasted time trying to thunder.

Yeah, we are just saying that its another reason for people to NOT fly underneath, and even we can do a ledge dropped skullbash to hit you while WOI'ing underneath too lol

as a reply to earlier, rainbow cruise i can do, but so far, all I can do with hyrule is make it to the edge of the platform underneath where the thunder goes through the stage, i cant make it past that

if they under to the other side, send some thundershocks to the other side to meet them there, or truck it with qac to meet them there with thunder.

truthfully the moderators rarely do anything on this site. we need a good moderator here actually to look at this thread. too bad you need to be recommended by your fellow smashers to be one cuz i would certainly like to be a moderator.

Thunder shock can be avoided and as for skull bash, its the most predictable move in the game besides firefox(ooooooh FIYA and PIIIII....KAHH!) While we can't attack, all that does is create an annoyance for us to avoid. I'm sure the first few times in a match that would work, but its going to quickly be figured out. your best bet is to run to the other side because of your speed and thunder close to the edge or off the edge on the other side after dropping down. thunder basically creates a wall that lasts a second or two that we can't fly through. and if we've gone under the stage chances are our wings are already low on time. So that would force us to either get hit or die. most people will take the hit, but that leads into a lot of juggling if your playing a good pika.
