-Have physics resemble melee, and include the wavedash/dash dancing mechanics. dump *most* other advanced techniques into the garbage.

-L/Z-canceling should either not be there at all, or always be active, as there was no point in not pressing the shield button to L/Z-cancel.

-New tech. Not anything miniscule, though.

-Character balance.

So far, ssb4 resembles about 50-75 of this list. :D Remember, this is my OPINION. If you have an opinion, then post a reply.

I have a better idea. Let's just play Smash 4 for what it is. It does not have to be a Melee 2.0, We have PM for that. The game is fine on it's own.

So, wait. What you're saying is that this game has to be more like Melee to be as competitive as Melee?

People gonna be so mad tho for your opinion XD. I do agree half way there. A thing that really bugs me is that some moves are designated launching moves and no other moves launch really far even at high percents. Plus the blast zone is so far out with recoveries being equally powerful. Oh and brawl stale move negation.

We'll see in a couple years if it will be played as competitively as melee. We can't really tell at this point.

I hate Melee Physics with a passion, good riddance.

SSB4 seems to handle them just right. No thanks for dropping like bricks.

If competitive smashers allow it, SSB4 could be even more competitive with all the custom moves and stuff.

I really want dash dancing, but other than that the game should have it's own ATs.

To make a game like Melee, remake Melee.

To make new and fresh games, do not remake Melee.

I enjoyed Melee, but we don't need another Melee, we have Melee to be Melee. (And Project M to be Melee With More Characters).

I wouldn't really call it perfect, but you are right, it's more than fine as is, especially with combos.
I think someone has actually discovered that the gif in your sig is not a true combo. In fact, Link is out of hitstun after almost every single attack. Fortunately, the window to act out of the combo is potentially too small, so Link possibly couldn't do anything about it.

Can we please stop obsessing over wave dashing? It's a physics exploit from directional air dodges, not an actual mechanic, nor does the competitive viability of Melee rely as heavily on the existence of wave dashing as many of you think it does. Sure, its a tool that we currently use, but if it were as important as everyone says it is Peach and Jigglypuff wouldn't be high tier and full of hype.

They shouldn't gimp air dodges so you can dodge into the ground repeatedly.

You know the secret to making a game that is just as, if not more competitive than melee?

Shutting the f**k up about melee and project m and play the new goddamn game. It is't rocket science....

Did we really need a thread about your opinion? That's what the Unpopular Opinions thread is for...

Changed the title to say just "very competitively." And i mean mostly the movement options.

who said my opinion was unpopular? lol

It is not an exploit, sakurai noticed wavedashing, he just didn't think it would effect the metagame. Also, I think peach and jiggs could use it as a wavelanding tool.

The smash community seems to think everything is perfect :(
But that doesn't matter. Have you EVER seen somebody compare ssb64 with any other entries? The reason look down on brawl is as a sequel, it dissapointed hardcore fans. As a standalone game? It is STILL HARDCORE. Hopefully ssb4 isn't argued about :( wait... but that would make me a hypocrite

We've done this thread. A few times. Talking about you "want" for the game at this stage is a bit redundant when we already know that those mechanics are likely not coming back. Further, the thread stipulates that the game cannot be competitive without melee movement mechanics, which is a one-sided topic about a very touchy issue.
