Today I hope to bring you something people will eventually abuse. The fact that every tether character can actually ledge cancel the lag they would get from landing.
first of all every character has a certain frame that looks exactly like this : http://i.imgur.com/8fIIMsG.png
This is the base line frame for everything when I counted the number of frames since different length tethers have different reel in times. its the first frame that everyone's tether disappears.

hold forward for 14 frames then hold back (all of them are like this). so on 14 going to 15, hold back. you will get 4 frames of landing lag.

and here's something crazy about lucas. his landing lag changes depending on if you used tether at a close range or its furthest range! the above is if you used max distance tether. if you do a short tether you will either get 3 frames or 8 frames. there also seems to be a middle distance with samus that allows for another window on 14 that gives 4 frames of lag but I couldn't find it ever again
this is the same for everyone on all stages but Yoshi's story and Yoshi's island brawl. the only one's that change on Yoshi's story is ZSS'. here's becomes a 2 frame window. 13 and 14 and receives either 1 frame or 4 frames landing lag. and on YI: brawl ZSS' and Ivy's change. ZSS' becomes only on frame 13 with 1 frame of lag and Ivy's becomes possible on 17 and 18 with 2 frames of lag or 4 frames lag.
