As a Marth main I used to have no trouble beating a friend of mine - he would always play VERY aggressive and I could simply punish him repeatedly. I told him so and recommended he go for a slower and more deliberate approach. Well I regret it now because he took it to heart and went for the complete opposite approach and now I can't beat him! They are usually close matches - not a blowout - but I didn't win a single match against his Ganon tonight.
He has adopted a playstyle where he will simply stay crouched without moving for upwards of 30-60 seconds at a time. My normal approaches ( dash dance into grabs or shuffled fairs ) get countered much more often than not. He blocks the fairs and grabs. If he misses the timing it generally doesn't matter since he's crouch canceling and still gets the grab anyways. The dash dances get wizard footed every time.
If I let him I'm pretty sure he'd be completely content letting the clock just run out. It's very frustrating. Any ideas?!
