But anyway, screenshots that Brawl takes are actual image files. They're just encoded in their own way. With a converter and some reverse-engineering, it is possible to convert them to JPG, much like you would convert any other image file into a JPG, and vice-versa.
Replays ONLY save the list of buttons that the players pressed (and a few other tiny things). At most, you could only convert them to a text file that lists the buttons. It is impossible to obtain video footage from the list of buttons itself, you NEED the game.
