i was looking through my youtube chan and noticed my guide to essential combo videos had over 1,500 views each. i know that isn't much but it's about 10 times more than other videos get

it seems like there is a big intrest for new players to learn the basics

i'm thinking i'll complete the series and overhaul my channel thread to make it more user friendly and informative to new players soon
A friend of mine actually asked me for "not beginner" video of Ness and we couñdn't find it. Glad to see you're doing it.

Yeah I would find it really useful if you finished your series.

Until then, I've been working on a falcon video for beginners and just finished.

Hey they video is good. You should make more, for other characters and/or falcon techniques (e.g. gimping w/falcon, dash pivot uses, different knockbas angels from Uair, etc.)

I think helping others learn could be a start to becoming more than a side event one day.

Edit: I'm going to start working on a fox video

I think these are great, especially Tom's since he was thorough enough for new players and actually voiced it.
Despite not being very good yet I'll try my best to make a DK video.

Also I think a new player info thread with a table of these kinds of tutorial videos would work wonders for growing the community. The character discussion subforum is not helping at all.

Thanks for all the positive responses guys. I enjoyed making the videos and plan on making more, probably on other Falcon techniques like Madrush mentioned.

I think breaking new players into the scene with basic stuff is the most important.

I was actually working on a video much like that but for fox. mainly focusing on his movement options, his gay dtilt, and simple drill and jab combos to usmash. g

Man, that was a great video. I wished I could get into a noob's mind to see what it would feel like. I really enjoy all the detailed explanations

Personally I would've thrown in the variation of the F-throw → Fair → Uair → up-B, this one, just so they'd have a very simple and similar combo that included one Z-cancel: weak Nair (Z-cancel) to grab → F-throw → Fair (only the 2nd hit) → Uair → up-B.

If the focus of the video is the same, you guys should team up do the Fox video. I kinda gave up on Falcon on Mario one 'cause I thought it was gonna be crap without peer review, and it didn't have a clear goal besides giving notes, kinda all over the place.

Thanks mixa, I really appreciate it.

My current, not very detailed, plan is to make videos on how to practice short hopping and how to practice z cancelling and then a video on Falcon movement (SH aerials, pivots, etc.). Around that time, a slightly more advanced Falcon combo video could be in order and the combo you linked (mixa) is perfect.

If anyone wants to ever team up to do a video, I would be super down. I'm obviously not great at editing and I'm not great at smash but I have the drive to produce this stuff which, maybe, is most important.

Just a daily reminder that in our attempts to grow the community and bringing all kinds of new and different players, we could have ended up with matches like these if we didn't ban hyrule

lolbrawl question but seriously based on this vid it seems like ICs can insta death MK off a grab. Yet they aren't considered a MK counter / MK was still so good he had to be banned?

Falcon doesn't counter Kirby just because he can punish hard from a grab now does he

Punishment isn't all that matters

Well, I don't know much about brawl, but all I hear about is how there's no combos and so forth, so having a 0 death combo opportunity in a game like that seems like it would be huge. That combined with the fact that M2K, who I assume is one of the best Metaknights, got repeatedly grabbed in that video is why I asked the question.

But basically what you're all saying is that it usually isn't that easy to get a grab on Metaknight and just M2K had a bad game / the ICs player had a really good game.

I'm currently organizing a "Fox for Beginners" video with Hipstur. I've PM'd Madrush to see if he is interested in working together on it.

If anyone would like to give some input or be directly involved, let me know.

Hopefully we can get at least a basic video for each character made within the next few months. That way we can capitalize on the yearly popularity spike from Apex by having some accessible information for casuals
