How to approach?

So ever since Ryu came out, I've been approaching with Fair and Nair, which is very predictable and unsafe. However, I've not been able to find other practical ways to approach as Ryu. Any advice?

Is your opponent reacting by shielding when you get close? Go for a grab. Try doing f-air/n-air, but landing behind your opponent. Maybe you could try to do a dash attack and also end up behind your opponent.

A good way to judge your opponent's reactions is to slowly walk back and forth, preparing to shield, jump, or counter. Thought, that's possibly obvious. As far as attacks go, throw out regular hadoukens to pressure them into shielding or dodging. Then go ham on their ass.
