In a place fit for a legend..
So pretty much I can make Marth technical if i learn to distance my arials from their shield enough so that i can't get shieldgrabbed, but still hit them... and LC, FF, SH, and do throw combos. Oh.. and he also needs mindgames and experience.

Is there anything in the aforementioned sentence grouping that another character does not require as well. Marth is a scam. I'm going to do some SwordDance spikes now, and pretend that it takes skill.

In my opinion, Dancing Blade spiking isn't that hard to die from; it's possible to tech it and you can meteor recover easily due to the obvious start-up.

My argument is based around the fact that while Marth doesn't have many button techniques to work on, he needs to work on his spacing because that will determine his combo game. An obvious example is when you miss the Ken Combo because you did or did not sweetspot the FAir. Another common one is when you don't tip the UTilt while you're chainthrowing/juggling a fastfaller and they get knocked 45 degrees away from you and escape. That was the basis of my argument in my 2nd and 3rd "essay" portion.

Chozen, sometimes it seems like you are so set on trying to bash something you don't actually listen to any one's retort.

A child cannot win with Marth; any experienced player with any character could beat them. However, Marth, technically, is rather easy to master so if two completely unexperienced players went at it and one chose Marth, chances are they will do better because of how easy he is to pick up.

So, to reiterate the same point that I said who knows how many posts ago; yes, Marth isn't a relatively heavy technical character. However, play Azen and KM and tell me the only reason they win is because he has a low learning curve and that any child could do it. Marth needs all the tech skill he can muster; without it he will not be close to competitive at professional levels. It is just all of his tech skill is less than most others.

metroid1117 did a good job answering your question, but I'll expound a little--

People have this concept that "tech skill" and "spacing" are entirely different things. They're not. With Marth you have to be able deftly to make subtle changes to his position, and you have to time his attacks with great precision to hit with the desired part of the blade. Of course, all characters need spacing and good timing, just not to the extent required by Marth.

Marth also has a good tech-chasing game, rivaled by only a few other characters. Mastering this is a technical feat.

Pivoting is more useful to Marth than any other character. A technical Marth can do a fsmash from almost anywhere at any time by pivoting.

So...a technical Marth is a Marth who has perfected spacing and timing (applicable to all characters), grab game and tech-chasing (more applicable to Marth than most other characters), and pivoting (most applicable to Marth).

I closed a thread that forward made that was similar to this one except for falco. As a result, I'm going to close this thread as well.
