I changed mine when I saw everyone else start doing it.
It can be confusing sometimes because so many people are using the same image of Wii Fit Trainer as their avatar. Luckily for me no one has snagged this pic of Fox yet.

I was a lazy ass, and bummed this picture offa someone else. They changed there picture now though, so sweet.

I'm not changing my avatar until something substantial from StarTropics is represented in Smash Bros.

By substantial I mean... Music (at least), Assist Trophy, Stage, or Character (most).

My sig will change more often, though. (Though I rarely see it anyway).

I got a modified Pit one, to fit the Pit color that I used in Brawl since the beginning, and most likely I'll still be using this color if it's available. Even if it isn't, I still love that Pit.

I've been switching my avatar to character trios using their official artworks. I had Samus, Pit and Link, then switched to Wii Fit Trainer, Mega Man and Villager and now have Mario, Kirby and DK.

Yo! I think some avatars were changed back to previous ones during the site updates around that time. Mine is a little different from what yours was.
