How many of you are just playing Smash 4 online because you don't have anyone else to play with?

I feel like a lot of people aren't enjoying the new title, but people continue to play it. I guess I fall into this category, how about you?

Sure, it may not be on the competitive level of Melee, but it's a lot better than Brawl IMO. I can't stop playing it.
I think you're in the minority, my friend.

Wait....is the question:

"How many of you are just playing Smash 4 online because you don't have anyone else to play with?"

or

"I feel like a lot of people aren't enjoying the new title, but people continue to play it. I guess I fall into this category, how about you?"

Because these questions are very different from each other.

Its even more party-gamey than ever in its vanilla form. I got tired of for glory as soon as I understood how to win. The only saving grace, the only thing keeping my love for this game alive is the custom content. The custom moves, equipment, and ability to make custom stages is awesome. And the fact you can use that stuff online with friends is perfect. There is so much depth in this game that so many people are ignoring because they think it'll be too OP or whatever.

Best or worst smash so far? Too early to tell. But this is definitely the most unique smash so far.

Maybe he's asking both of those questions but he thought the first one would make a better title?

Loving smash 4, is it to the same competitive level as Melee and PM. No, the engine doesn't allow for the same speedy combos and incredible tech skill that Melee had. Is it a bad game, no way. The game still has some hype matches. As for do I play online cause I have no one to play with, hell no. I do a lot of stuff with friends but were not together all the time so in that time I'll practice with some For Glory.

Well, I play online because the people I always played with are now at least 2 hours east of my current residence. So, I technically don't have a convenient way to play with them other than online.

I'm very happy with the new title for the most part. I wish it was a bit less defense-oriented, but that is my only complaint.

I guess I'm just not seeing how much better Smash 4 is because everyone I play feels ill-equipped to fight the way I'd like to, which is basically Brawl Wario/Kirby (with some Snake thrown in).
Brawl actually worked well because of its floatiness and generous autocancels/quicker aerials, and ignoring planking/character balance, it was actually a lot of fun to play, even with items.
I liked that I could stay on someone's shield relatively safely and get rewarded for spacing my aerials properly, and even though matches could take a while, I never felt like the matches lacked substance.

That being said, there's a heck of a lot of empty space in Smash 4, which is alright, but considering how restricted most hitboxes have become and how far away the killzones are, the matches just feel awkward and drawn-out.
I do like that it's faster than Brawl and that actually does feel somewhat nice at times, but I feel like it could've taken a page from Brawl and kept the general range of characters (making alterations where necessary [MK]) as well as kept or improved landing lag.
Some characters (CF, Fox) have this, and it's actually pretty sweet, but the many characters that kinda stick on the floor for an hour after an aerial and/or don't really have much with quick startup could really use some tweaks, especially considering the shield stun situation.

That lot of rambling aside, I do play online because I don't have many people to play with.
There are 2 people I know of in my city that are near my level, but I barely get to see them and most of the time, we play Melee/PM/Brawl when we meet.
Still, Smash 4's online is better than Brawl's in my experience, so it definitely earns a gold star for that, and getting to display names is a huge leap in the right direction.
Now if we could instantly add people to friend lists or host lobbies...I'd be cool with Smash 4's (apparent and perspective-determined) shortcomings if we had an online system that cool.

There's literally no one who plays Smash 4 for 100 miles around me. So I'm stuck to Online or CPUs.

That said, I still love this game to death and I tend to play for hours on end.

I have friends who play with me locally on some occasions. Although, I don't think they've ever owned a Nintendo console in their life, so they kindof suck.

How can you force yourself to play something? Sounds kinda ******** to me, I play sm4sh because its fun, I play sm4sh online because its well done, no lag (most the time) and has verities of players, and I play local when friends are over, if you don't like it, don't play it is the only opinion I can give

I usually do play online since it really is my only large source of practice, save for when I get my friends over. I don't really know anyone in my area that plays the game competitively though so it's my only alternative.
