How many characters can you play "efficiently" as so far in Project M?

So many characters play so differently, and some still play the same as they did in other Smash games. How many of them can you play efficiently as?
Efficiently as in, maybe you wouldn't list them as your Main, or secondary, but characters that you're decently good with, maybe you could even make them your secondary if you tried a little harder.
Just wondering since the roster is so big, with the Pokemon + ZSS getting their own slots plus Mewtwo/Roy returning
For me it's: :mario2::kirby2::yoshi2::marth::jigglypuff:>:metaknight::ivysaur::toonlink::samus2::pikachu2::fox::roypm:
One of the reasons I'm enjoying PM so much is because everyone is viable and it's lots of fun learning how to use the entire roster (though obviously I just mostly focus on Mario/Kirby)

Well, I main Captain Falcon. But overall, I guess I'd call myself efficient with Jigglypuff, Ness, Mario, Samus, Falco, and Mewtwo.

:roypm: Because main.
:kirby2: Because secondary.
:mewtwopm: Because I've watched Taj play and can mimic his style lol.
:pit::mario2: Because they're disgustingly easy to play as.

Damn wish I could play a decent Nidoking.

If we're talking about characters we can't play well I'd say Olimar. He has to be the only character that I can't get a grasp on even at low level play.

:ness2:and more or less:falcon:.

Then, I'm kind of learning to play with some others like :bowser2:, :ike:, :jigglypuff:, :wolf:, :mewtwopm: and :roypm:.

I plan to main Ness, Falcon and a third one to cover my weakness.

Pretty much anyone who isn't Olimar.

My top 5 though are Mario, Falcon, Marth, Ike and Sonic. Ganon being the secret sixth.

Lucario, Wolf, Mewtwo, Zamus and Roy being secondaries.

I main :wolf: and :luigi2:. I've also been trying to pick up :zelda: lately. I can play most of the cast somewhat efficiently, but I'm best with those three.

Mains are Mewtwo and Lucario. Secondaries are Link and Ganon. Pretty efficient with all them and other characters I just use to screw around with.

My definition of "efficient" is probably different from OP.

Under my definition, I can play :pikachu: efficiently, but that's it.

Under OP's definition, I can play :pikachu2::falcon::ike::yoshi2::zerosuitsamus::roypm::marth::mario2::olimar::gw::toonlink:

Casual players who say they main more than 2 characters are bad. It just means you're bad with all those characters you "main". Pick one so you can stop getting bodied by actual players, you obobobo's.

It's just dumb and no one realizes it. I can navigate the game with every character, that doesn't mean I main the whole game. But nobody else realizes this so you get a lot of sub par players. More commitment to single characters means better competitive scene means better competitive growth means better balancing/ testing/ community/ tournaments/ etc.

people having fun means a larger community means all of those things. i'm actually with you to some extent, especially on a case-by-case basis with people who really care about placing highly, but a lot of people don't care about being bad and i honestly don't believe the community suffers for that like you think. if they really cared about winning they'd figure that out on their own, but i don't think many of these pan-character users really believe its the best strategy for placing well in tournaments and its counter productive (for your goals) to criticize them for that mentality.

I understand where you're coming from with that, but I have friends who are the same way, which is fine, but Smashboards is a strategy forums place, largely. Not saying no fun allowed (really I enjoy all the shenanigans) but I assume when people show up here they mean to improve, so I act under that assumption. It's fine if they don't care to improve, I just answer threads as if everyone was writing to better themselves. Probs a bad habit.

Is this thread really about maining that many characters though? The OP didn't seem to indicate that.

I mean, there's playing someone well enough that you don't look like you're just mashing buttons (what I take this thread to be), there's playing them decently well, and there's actually being good with them for your skill level (those you'd use in a competitive setting). All very different things.

I'm still fairly new to this game, having only played other Smash games casually years ago, so I'm still learning which characters fit me best. At the moment, aside from my main Wario of course, I have a G&W that can sometimes rival him. I started out with Sonic, so I can play him decently, and I have also done well as ROB and Dedede. Mario would always be my go to in casual play, so I feel good with him, too, but then it starts going downhill.

So there are about 5-6 characters I play decently right now, 2 that are the best.
