Most of the games on the eshop don't even approach 2GB. Monster Hunter is only like 1.6 GB.

If Monster Hunter is only 1.6 GB, then the 3DS shouldn't limit how many characters, stages, etc. Unless the character roster is over 100.

Wii U Disc Capacity: Up to 25 GB per layer
3DS Cartridge Capacity: Up to 8 GB

I can't ignore it! Just like I can't ignore the technical limitations of the 3DS!
:039:
By the time the game comes out, we'll be down to the 1DS anyway. We're already at the 2DS stage.
I hope everyone likes playing their games on device that only has width.

God, that is such a mediocre joke.
So is worrying about this issue.
My point was I don't take the whole "3DS will limit smash" seriously enough to warrant anything more than a juvenile joke on it.

To be quite honest, the impact the 3DS will do on development will either be nonexistent or negligible.

Project X Zone is a strategy RPG, and out of the 200+ characters that appear, only about 60 or so are playable. But otherwise you made a valid point. A 3DS game card can reach 8 gigs, so if any characters don't make it in it'll be due to time constraints, not hardware restraints. Whether the actual battle system turns our well or not is solely dependent on the decisions of Sakurai.

If we have 100 characters and if the characters each get individual cutscenes and exclusive stages...

SSB4's disc will be triple-layered.

SSB4's 3DS will need 3 cartridges.

NAH..... the fighter files in Brawl are only about 660 megabytes total, and that's with each costume having its own character model. They won't be having filesize issues with characters anytime soon.

Also, no character videos shall enter thine 3DS! They only show Wii U footage anyways.

EDIT: I mean the trailers. The videos at the end of Classic and All-Star mode (the same video with one separate screenshot) are 7 megabytes per character. But the 3DS videos will be less than a third of the Wii U resolution.

Personally I find it silly that people think Smash would be limited on the 3ds.

I mean come on, they made animal crossing New leaf for crying out loud! That is the definition of TONS of data. > _ >

Yeah but animal crossing has compressed data. The original DS handled it with no problem... just saying.. lol

I think we are gonna have to cut down the roster to half the size because it is so limited :troll:
Anyways, thanks for this. I can't believe that Kid Icarus was only 2 GB with all the stuff added in. Makes you realize how much stuff could be put in Smash 3DS.
We better hope Sakuraii doesn't disappoint us then. I want him mostly focusing on balancing characters (because a lot of them sucked in Brawl (cough) Mario), making the online better (disappointment), and adding as many ****ing characters as he can.

Fixed. The big reason why Namco is doing Smash in the first place is because they balance a lot of fighters.

making the online better (disappointment)
The Wii U and 3DS ought to not disappoint.

Nope. A good expectation is about 2-4 cuts from Brawl and 8-10 newcomers.

Namco is balancing? Hold up which fighting games do Namco have?

At the absolute most. I doubt we'll even get that many this time.

It's not that implausible. If you do the math, each new game had 12, 13, and 18 new characters. Even 10 characters is much less than normal.

Math asides, Sakurai has a very apparent lack of estimation skills: He says Brawl's roster hit the peak of his team's limits, yet he thinks the limit is 20. Nintendo brought in a separate company to develop Smash Bros. for a reason.

You may be right. I just don't know how many characters Sakurai is going to view as necessary additions this time around. Though he surprised us all with the Wii Fit Trainer, so who knows what wacky stuff goes on in that man's head. Hell, I even thought Toonie was out, but looks like I was wrong!

Storage capacity notes...

GCN: ISO holds up to 1.35 GB
Wii: Single-layer ISO holds up to 4.37 GB; Dual-layer ISO holds up to 7.92 GB
3DS: Game card holds up to approx. 8 GB
Wii U: Single-layer ISO holds up to approx. 25 GB

The Brawl ISO only uses around 6.93 GB when you don't include the extra partitions. As a result, it would easily fit into a 3DS game card.

Nope. But are those games pretty balanced and are Namco's team reliable?
I'm really surprised you've never heard of either of those. I can't speak for Tekken, or other Soul Calibur games besides 2, but SC2 was pretty well-balanced, I'd say. It also had guest characters depending on the platform it was on; the GameCube version got Link and they did an amazing job with him, so I'm gonna trust Namco to do well by Smash Bros.

Tekken is one of the most well-balanced fighting games out. If not THE best. So I have absolutely no worries.

The 3DS is pretty "limiting". It's so gullable, the Weegee Virus took over my 3Ds...

Nintendo took over Tekken Tag Team Tournament 2, so I HAVE NO WORRIES!

Please refrain from posting stuff that doesn't contribute to thread's discussion, especially immature ones.
Technically this doesn't contribute to the threads discussion either.

Technically my post that I will post in a minute doesn't contribute either.

On Topic: I would not worry about the 3DS limitations, at the same time, they are there. Just look at DK on the 3DS, lol worthy.
