Okay first off, please read this:

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=199108

Second of all, the reason I am posting this here is because I have a summary of Snake's performance in the elements of Brawl, but it may not be accurate. So, I was wondering if you guys could do it, considering how you guys are the authorities on your own character.

Use this thread to discuss it, and then please post your results in the "Element of Brawl" thread linked above, using this format:

ZONING
  • On the ground
  • In the air
  • Off-stage

SPACING
  • Extreme long distance
  • Long distance
  • Medium distance
  • Short distance

KILLING
  • Killing power
  • Gimping potential

Thanks a bunch.

ZONING

On the ground- Not much needs to be said here. His tilts are ridiculously good and grenade shielding greatly helps in controlling enemy approaches. Rating: Amazing

In the air- Snake's aerials are often good for building up damage and getting KOs, but their situational natures allow Snake to be juggled rather easily. Rating: Average

Off-stage- Easily Snake's worst zone to be in. The cypher can be fatally gimped not too uncommonly, and the best attack Snake can fall back to the stage with is his nair, which can often be easily punished. He'd be terrible off-stage if it wasn't for his cypher getting incredible distance and his C4 recovery giving him a much-needed margin for cypher failures. Rating: Below Average

SPACING

Extreme long distance - While Snake will lose out in camping wars against characters such as Fox, R.O.B., and Olimar, cooked grenades provide a nice way to attack from a far distance and are able to force several characters to approach him. Previously planted mines can also give your opponents trouble from far away. Rating: Comfortable

Long distance- Nothing that good for Snake at this distance. Snake's approaching game is nothing special since the mortar slide isn't that good against several characters. Snake is usually best-off preparing for his opponent at this distance. Rating: Bearable

Medium distance- One of Snake's best distances to be at. Snake's tilts and jab can give your opponents heck with their strength, speed, and reach, and playing defensively with grenades can make your opponents have to be quite careful. Rating: Comfortable

Short distance- See Medium distance. Rating: Comfortable

KILLING

Killing power- Snake has a ridiculous amount of KO options on a weakened opponent. Rating: Amazing

Gimping potential- Snake isn't much for gimping. Snake's off-stage options are quite predictable, and his spike is nearly worthless on a good opponent. Since I'm guessing this category doesn't include edge-guarding once your opponent has reached the stage, Snake hardly has anything to speak of when it comes to gimping. Rating: Terrible

I agree with everything penguin said, but I think snake is terrible/below average in the air. I use snake for fun (grenades say it all) and I have an extremely hard time in the air, especially against small characters like olimar and pikachu.
