I'm really bad but improving new fox player and I was wondering how can fox gimp heavy characters like Gannon and DK. If this question has already been answered please lock this thread and I humbly apologize for my lack of gray matter. Thanks in advance for any help on the subject.

Shine.

Shine is bad for everyone offstage, regardless of their physics.

Note: You'd also want to shine them at the top of their bodies, Ganon might grab you if you try to shine his torso and DK's arms protect him pretty well from the sides. You can also use ledge invincibility to burn through their up+B's. Bowser's is pretty tricky to shine, using the edge invincibility would greatly be in your favor.

I would give you more info, but then I'd just be giving you general edgeguarding info, so I'll stick to the shine.

Firefox stall is real great for those tricky shines!

Also, if they're good with ledgeteching your conventional edgeguards like D-smash, bair, F-smash, etc., you can try using drill to throw off their positioning and go for the shine after they mess up.

knock em off and hit them 20 times until they die

if they go high use bair
if they go for the edge use dsmash

or dont do any of that and shine

lasers gimp heavy characters way better than shines do. just use your speed over them. i get ****ed more often than not trying to gimp a DK, especially if he's recovering from stage level or above, so i just laser and then go upsmash them again.

Lasers gimp? I'd think you were thinking this was the Falco forum, but from the context you genuinely mean Fox's lasers.

At OP, B Air and Shine are the bread and butter, but you can use near anything.

er, no, i just worded my post very stupidly. my point was that those characters generally aren't very easy to edge gimp, but you dont have to, because you can run around and laser him a lot and then just hit him and not have to worry about it.

basically i was trying to say with one or two sentences that there's no particularly easy way to edgeguard them, so the move that breaks the matchup is laser instead of shine, cause you just outpace them so much you can run around and laser if you feel like it.

Wait what?

Just for that, I'm going to turn a 3-syllable word into an 11-syllable word.

Shine is ter-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ble for heavy characters everything.

Lasers are just there to make them do stupid things so you can shine them after.

In addition to this, also make sure to grab the edge if they're going to go for the sweetspot and roll off right before you would be hit by their move so they'll fall to their doom.
