A recent trend in camping has evolved and i would like to know how to deal with this annoyance.

sheik and fox, you just outcamp them. Don't fall behind in stocks and/or damage -- easier said than done, obviously.

Marth and puff, it's mostly about spacing yourself in such a way that you are threatening them -- you can attack and punish quickly from there. Right around tipper range for marth (and actually pretty close to that same range for jigglypuff -- depends on how tall your opps character is and how much range he has). From there, they can't really hold their ground too well, since both marth and jigglypuff punish via huge long combos or instant death (tipper, rest). So you observe what your opponent most commonly does from this position and outmindgame him. Dashdancing is pretty useful with both characters around this range.

I dunno -- it's a hard question to answer because camping in many situations is a good strategy that doesn't really have a counter -- in some situations (your opp has the lead and is hiding behind the fin on corneria, for example) any tact you try leaves you at a disadvantage. Obviously, if your opponent is pill spamming with doc and he keeps right on pill spamming once your marth is in tipper range, you can punish, but not many opponents are that dumb. Just try to make note of your opponents' favorite tactics and outmindgame them. And camp yourself when it puts you at an advantage.

did you mean to say that it's not so bad when you play marth (just walk forward and swipe all projectiles except lasers & needles -- against falco and sheik you have to approach in the air without fulling commiting and/or be patient and counter big)? But that you have a hard time against projectiles when using jiggly?

With puff, use your air mobility and your low crouch to your advantage and mix up your approach -- stop and go waveshields and weaving aerial approaches (nair cancels out many projectiles, keep in mind) -- until you're at range to pressure your opponent. Maintaining this spacing gives puff an advantage against most opponents. If your opp holds his ground or attacks, mindgame and punish -- of course you must have your combos and rests down pat, because to play jiggly well (not that I do, especially) you have to punish harder in fewer opportunities than most characters.

If your opponent retreats and continues to spam projectiles, that's okay. Be patient. Continue your approach in the same manner and follow, but don't commit. You want to push your opponent to an edge and hopefully read him well enough to knock him off where jiggs has an advantage on every character in the game. Just be patient. If you play jigglypuff, you will not have as many opportunities to deal damage as other mid-high-top tier characters. But you can deal it harder and to a wider range of percentages and weights than pretty much anyone. Just don't give away free damage and don't get impatient. Impatience is usually how jigglypuff runs into trouble against projectiles -- don't feel like you must attack as soon as you have a chance just to end a camping session. Carefully move yourself into position and then punish hard when you see your best chance.

Just jump over the projectiles and then attack them. Give them no breathing space between you guys and keep close to him. This gives him no chance to camp and spam projectiles. Just advance on them and don't give up! :)

Going over projectiles with puff works great when you have some distance to go, but up close against many characters it leads to being juggled or KOd off the top -- fox is the worst, but sheik, falco, pika, ICs, pichu, and sortof the marios all have their options against anyone approaching high at or near striking range.

Most definitely use, but use with some caution.

all i kno is dat when i try to camp wit sheik ( a lot of times it ends up being intentionally)...an aggressive fox can come in way to quick for me to keep up...if ur fox is up to par...i would definitely say he is the best way to outdo camping...he puets such an extreme presuure on u if the fox player knows what their doing, dat the opponent wont b worrying about camping...they r gonna just be trying their hardest to get away and not get combo'ed...i kno' this from personal experience....peace

I find that equivalent projectile spam tends to cause trouble for some who like to camp. If you are hitting them with plenty of your own projectiles, they may give up their own spam due to the frustration of yours interrupting theirs.

Also, as others have said, keeping the pressure on them works very well. When a Falco is trying to use short hop laser on me, I do everything I can to be right on top of him while avoiding as many of the shots as possible. Once the player realizes that they cannot keep you at distance for any reasonable amount of time, they tend to give up on projectile spamming at least for a bit and try to fight you up close.

Jiggs definitely is good for avoiding the spam altogether though. If you want to know, Jiggs is by far my hardest matchup, even more so than Marths.

camping is a valid strategy and it does have flaws, and I think if you follow some basic strategy, you should do fine.

1. Most importantly... don't do straight forward approaches... some people get frustrated at others camping and will completely hold forward and do aerials... with such an obvious path... how can they not simply wd back and smash attack or run under you? Basically... approach cautiously.

2. Spacing and platform... I'm assuming a person who camps can't really camp the middle of the stage... and its not the safest place near the edge... You can pressure them... being in the middle is your friend, ESPECIALLY if your jiggs... (which i think you mentioned), one kick and they're out of here. You also have platforms... avoid the projectiles, approach cautiously and most importantly... stay calm.

basically... if someone is camping... that means they are running away and avoiding you... which also means they have to run/ get passed you... watch for this, consider it their approach I suppose and punish them... also, it does take lots of focus to spam projectiles while avoiding smart players... abuse their mistakes

Sometimes, if you are playing against a GOOD camper that knows what he/she is doing, the best thing to do is to camp back and be patient the whole time.

Hope that helped.

Just counterpick Yoshi's Story or Fountain of Dreams and beat the hell out of them with a decent character.
If they play Corneria, DL64, Pokestad, or Jungle Japes, just outspam them.

All other stages should be fairly even. Also, most spammers tend to lose focus when they spam, leaving HUGE holes in their defense when they run from one side of the screen to the other. Punish them for this with whatever your character can muster.

Lastly, you can play Fox, Falco, Luigi, or ICs and just constantly keep shield pressure them and be up in their face.

i suppose i am also having the same problem.

a friend of mine plays roy. and all he does is sit there. and waits. waits until you get close and either just does his fsmash or dodges and does his fsmash.

thats it. the only moves he does.

and honestly it throws me off and 9 times out of ten he beats me.

i play as ganon and i guess im just trying to figure out what im not doing right.

My stragety for Shiek is to never let them attack. I haven't played for a while because I have been playing Twilight Princess and waiting for Brawl. :urg:

just run toward them, jump in then jump up/away so they attack the air (so you can now get in an aerial and work from there), it should work pretty often

Then stand still until he comes, if both of you just stand still waiting on the other to approach the one will the weaker will and patientence [which appears to be you, you have to work on that] will lose focus and try something risky, however is waiting can punish accordingly.

Just don't fall for his bait anymore and he will have to try something different eventually.

Simply use a character other than DK, Ganondorf, C. Falcon, Jigglypuff, Marth, and Roy and throw crap back at those pansies.

Everyone Tera goes against is a coward, so Tera knows 'em good.

cowards+Tera=wastage, Tera's favor.
